Default Mourinho rejects move for Lennon

Quote:
Widespread reports over the weekend suggested Chelsea were lining up a mega-money bid for the England international.

Lennon has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in England in the last 18 months.

The former Leeds youngster showed his class in scoring Tottenham's winner against Chelsea on Sunday.

Despite his impressive showing against Chelsea Mourinho insists he has no plans to try and sign the jet-heeled winger.

"No, completely not interested," said Mourinho when asked of the Lennon speculation.

"The boy is good, but we have no interest in buying or changing anything.

"Our interest is to keep Shaun Wright-Phillips - who was supposedly involved in any deal. No way. It's not true."

Is there anybody Chelsea is not rumoured to sign?

Their "interest" sure drives the prices up.

Anyone who knows when Lennon's contract expires?Much depend on that.I don't think Spurs will sell him if they have bound him to a contract for several years.Chelsea have no need for him when they got several options in his position IMO.

Not fair to blame Chelsea for the gutter press vomiting these stories up from nowhere.

Yeah it is a common cheap trick to unsettle opposition but it seems to have backfired here.

Quote:
Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has urged team-mate Aaron Lennon to turn down a move away from White Hart Lane in January.

Chelsea have been linked with a winter bid for the England winger after his sparkling display on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho has rejected the weekend speculation and that will come as welcome news to Jenas and the Spurs faithful.

"The fans love him and we don't want to lose him as a player," Jenas is quoted in The Sun.

"He was the best player on the pitch on Sunday and gave Chelsea all kinds of problems.

"We knew he would, especially as he had his new yellow boots on and we gave him plenty of stick before the game - but we didn't say a word afterwards!"

Lennon scored the winner against The Blues on Sunday and Jenas believes the result proved the 19-year-old can win trophies with Martin Jol's men.

Jenas said: "He's been threatening to score for a few games but he saved it for the biggest occasion.

"He did it by beating Ashley Cole and he's the best left back in the world - it was a great finish.

"Chelsea have been linked with Aaron but results like this prove he doesn't have to go there to fulfil his ambitions and win things."

even if chelsea didnt leak this rumour, it sure took mourinho a while to set the media straight anyway, he didnt make it known he didnt want lennon until after the game, he had plenty of time before it though...

Why would any young player play for Chelsea. That's where careers go to die.

Just ask SWP and how he feels about sitting on the bench and missing the WC06.
