Could've been all three. If only Defoe's shot had bounced six inches higher.

Deserved point and when comparing Ferdinand and King... let just say Spurs had the most complete defender on the pitch.

yeah the more ferdinand goes on like this the more he looks like a midfielder/sweeper.
he certainly isnt in john terry's league as a pure centre back.

Nah Rio is still better than Terry, same with King and Sol when at his best, put Terry in Man Utd and he wouldn't look half as good as he does at Chelsea but I've got no problems with him starting for England aslong as King is the DM covering both his and Rio's backsides.

bull**** for so many reasons.
1. terry does the nasty graft that ferdinand has never done.
2. terry's reading of the game is far superior as his lack of pace has forced it to be.
3. terry was a superb defender even before jose introduced his less attack minded tactics.
4. terry's organisational skills are better than ferdinand's and as good as campbells and kings.
5. terry's passing and ability to take the ball from defence are almost as good as king's and ferdinand's...they are of course superior because of their superior natural athleticism....however i wouldnt mind betting that terry's passing is more accurate.

Without wishing to take anything away from Terry, Faisal has a point.
Terry is surrounded by class defenders, Ferdinand isn't. He had to be all over the show yesterday because of the inexperience on both flanks and in all fairness, he did a bloody good job. For Terry, however, looking good is a lot easier. The men around him get their jobs done, leaving him to do his.

yes indeed that is a legitimate reason for terry's success...but you cannot take away from his individual performances and the things he does that have nothing to do with other people.
surely the fact that he stands out amongst those better players also shows how good he is.
and again, terry was an excellent player even before jose came to chelsea.

Well Terry is at Chelsea so things like passing, chances etc will be on his side, more options, more cover, its standard, he just needs to the standard consistently and he does it well because after all he is a solid player, King and Rio have to do the standard plus get their team out of awkward situations, things which Terry never really has to deal with Gallas Makelele Horno Ferriera Lampard all working their arses off ahead of him, if he has to commit he is fully confident that there is someone to back him up, you get that extra security playing for Chelsea, plus his teammates keep the ball so there is less possesion, like you say Terry has always been a good player, but never this highly rated before Jose or Roman came, apart from maybe his mum everyone rated him as a good solid defender but not world class or anything, he is more limited than Rio or King but I must admit he is closer to Ferdinand than King, stripping away all the hype King has developed into the most complete centreback in the country, he just keeps a low profile and plays for a club outside the CL so he won't get the hype a arrogant **** like Ferdinand does.
Terry is solid but apart from Chelsea fans who will naturally prefer one of their own players I don't see why neutrals should go too overboard, Willam Gallas is arguably better but even he isn't in the same class as Ferdinand or King, its hard to see now but if they all swapped clubs and Ferdinand and King were at Chelsea, Terry at Spurs and Gallas at Utd, it would be very clear.

thats nonsense...terry is our captain and most consistent player because he is always the last line and getting us out of situations.
he was highly rated before, thats why he played beside sol at 2004...he won pfa because he got better individually.
i have seen every game that gallas and terry have played for this club and they arent in the same league...gallas is quicker, but thats it....his tackling, vision, marking and passing arent as good.
man utd are gagging for a defender like terry who could do what pallister and/or bruce did for them...lead from the back and organise the defence.

Look, another thread, this time about SPURS and MANU, has turned into a Cheasea thread... Can we please cut this out and stick to disgussing the subject or teams that the thread was actually started about!

He looked like King's understudy in Portugal after the France game, alot of the foreign people watching the tournament thought he was.
The PFA award was a joke last season, Henry was by far the best player in England, a victim of his own standards really, Terry scored some headers and got all the credit for Chelsea's team defence organized by Mourinho backed up by top players in every position, it was a disgrace, Lampard Makelele and Gallas even at leftback deserve as much if not more credit than the goldenboy.
Anyway I rate him highly and always have done, lets not turn this into a Chelsea thread, Terry is class but not at the top of my list, we all have our preferances so no problem.

Good result for you guys, but I thought you should have won it. But coming from behind makes it worth it.

I too feel we should have won it, still a draw coming from behind against the once-unbeatables will do for starters....

whilst you do make some great points in the middle somewhere....terry was our second best player last year behind makalele.
i wouldnt make that up and neither would thousands of chelsea fans that have seen every one of his games...there is no argument to justify gallas, lampard being better.
so no lets not turn this into a thread about chelsea....you clearly havent watched much of them.
