Maybe. Just looked like he was well marked to me. That Govou looked the biz though.

That's what we're hoping for but with this squad we definitely have time on our side while those around us are ageing. I'm in no rush.

That Tainio looks fantastic. Cerny had a good game in goal. the 2 goals that Robbie Keane scored are wonderful to watch from our point of view. Pure team goals. Fantastic play. We were very fluid and looked comfortable on the ball all through the match. If we can beat a very decent side like Lyon by 3-1, then that can only bode well for the future. Things are looking very very optimistic for us. However, We are Tottenham who are reknowned for having had the team for a good finish for years, but haven't played well. The only downfall i can see this season in a CM partnership not building. We have 8 first team CM players. Davis, Carrick, Mendes, Huddlestone, Lennon, Brown, Davids and Tainio. They're gonna need to be constantly swapped around, and that could unsettle. I like Carrick and Brown together last season. They suit each other very nicely. That's the only obvious reservation i can think of though. Good times ahead.

I don't see CM or the numerous possible combinations of them as a problem. We are building a squad for the future and not just a team for the 2005-2006 season. Whoever comes in at CM, whenever he comes in, knows he's going to have to do the business, and that can only be a healthy thing.

I do have one reservation, though, and that is our left side. I don't agree with many who say Zeigler can play at LB and nor do I believe that he and Reid, although both have undoubtable potential, are the players we need on our left flank. That and the fact that we have no real cover for Edman in that position is a cause for concern.
