Credible rumour
From THFClatest:
The End For Defoe...?
Rumours are mounting that Manchester United are soon to start a summer transfer merry go round by bidding 10mill plus Keiron Richardson and Saha for Jermaine Defoe.....this would then allow Madrid to buy van Nistleroy......in turn Chelsea would then be able to purchase Ronaldo from Madrid.......
Spurs are reportedly considering the possibility of letting Defoe go with the deal giving them a proven premiership scorer and quality exciting winger as well as bolstering Jol's transfer kitty to a whopping 25million. this would be further bolstered by the sales of Kanoute (5mill) to Man City, Keane (6mill) to Newcastle, Gardner (1.5mill) to Charlton and Brown (2.5mill) to West Ham.
Jol is keen on the deal and hopes to appease fans fury by signing three other quality names......Jenas from Newcastle (8mill), Johnson from Palace (10mill), and bridge from Chelsea (4mill).
To summarise:
In - Richardson (part exchange), Saha (part exchange), Jenas (8mill), Johnson (10mill), Bridge (4mill) - TOTAL 22mill
Out - Defoe (10mill), Keane (6mill), Kanoute (5mill), Brown (2.5mill), Gardner (1.5mill) - TOTAL 25mill
This would leave Jol with two quality finishers, a partner for Carrick in the centre of midfield, and a reliable left back at last...as well as a remaining transfer kitty of around 15mill to find an international class powerful tall striker to partner the Saha / Johnson.
Personally I think Defoe is world class but if we could replace him with the players named above then I feel Tottenham can only be stronger as a result....the worry would be that we let him go then fail to use the money wisely to bring in quality players...but I trust in Jol - he's shown top managerial sense so far! We would still need to bring in an additional striker though if Defoe and Keane both go. I get the feeling that getting rid of both would be cutting off our nose to spite our face.

Regarding Man U, there's talk of Saha and Richardson in part exchange.

You can't, but Man U can and the scummy Daily Star is reporting that Defoe has bought a house in Cheshire.

I'd advise you to dump the CM5 game right now because it's microwaved your brain.

Stranger things have happened. However if Saha goes as part of the deal then I can't see Ruud going too.
BTW I can't see this deal happening. The idea of Defoe at OT is nice though.
