Default Book thread.....what you reading ?

Not sure if one exists and has just moved of page (did a quick search)

But as per the header what are you currently reading?

Reading is quite a popular pastime over here in Blighty ? Have bought so many books over the years but never got round to reading many of them until recently.

I bought The Ice Man sometime back at a local store sale. Its the story of Richard Kuklinski, A Mafia contract killer. Its a bloody gripping reading.

I have also started Lance Armstrong auto-biography which I tend to read in lunch breaks at work.

Ice Man is a great book. Some really shocking stuff in it.

For more on him, check this out:

richard kuklinski - Google Video

I'm actually between books at the minute. Just read Nick Stone's King of Swords. Excellent book, highly recommend it and his first book Mr. Clarinet to anyone who like books by Lee Child or Barry Eisler.

Reading two books

"Emotional Intelligence"

"Despues del CAFTA ¿Qué?"

The first one is obviously about human emotions and on how we can mature emotionally and don't get caught up in the moment and do something stupid. Which actually is very likely since it's very human. Where in the heat of the moment our emotions take control instead of our reason. It shows why it happens and what we can do about it.

The second book is pretty much a detailed analysis on how fucked Nicaragua and the rest of the Central American countries are after signing the stupid CAFTA with them gringos. We're so fucked it hurts. Otro clavo más que sacarnos del pie y lograr desarrollarnos... si es que lo logramos hacer

I heard somewhere that arabs in israel read in average 5 minutes per year (!!!!!)
I live in a non-reading culture. most people read only for school tasks.

but I still read about 1 or 2 books each month... I love reading

^talking about biographies... I am reading Albert Einstein's Biography , written by Walter Isaacson.
it is a new book based on einstein papers that were published lately (letters, notebooks, essays, ...).
it is a huge book that goes all over his life and theories. as big as a dictionary
but it is very very interesting... I almost finished it (200 pages to go). I skipped the part about his jewish relationships because I felt it was not true, but more of politics...
the best part of the book though is about his declining to quantum mechanics. I could write more but I'm afraid nobody is going to read it :S

I also read a brilliant book called: Plato and a Plathypus walk into a bar...
it's an introduction to philosophy book written in a humoric way with many many jokes that explain every philosophic thought... one of the best books I've read, if not the best.

I'm reading Ancient Persia by some German professor.

It's a tough read, very factual but it's what I was looking for because I wanted to educate myself on the history of the country.

The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas.

i can't help but love the classics, all the great books.

i'll be following it with The Count of Monte Cristo, also by Dumas, and The Godfather by Mario Puzo

the original books just give me the bit extra that for some bizarre reason, they leave out or change in the films.

The Turin Shroud (How Leonardo da Vinci Fooled History) by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince.

Go to Politics and World Issues and give me your reasons why you either think it's a fake or not.
