Werder Bremen Complete Carlos Alberto Deal
Despite some last minute doubts, Werder Bremen have confirmed the transfer of midfielder Carlos Alberto.
The Brazilian has signed for €7.8 million and becomes the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
The 22 year old believes he will have no trouble settling in at his new club. "I have already played with Diego and Hugo Almeida. I know Naldo as we are good friends."
Alberto, who won the Champions League while at Porto in 2004, is looking forward to his time in Bremen. "Even when I played at Porto I heard a lot about the club. Werder have a very good team which represents success.
"I know that I have to work and train hard in order to fulfil the expectations of the coach and the fans."
Werder become the Brazilian’s fourth club. He started his career at Fluminense before moving to Europe with Porto. A year later he returned to Brazil with Corinthians. Last season he was loaned out to Fluminense where he scored 6 goals in 20 appearances.

Werder sign Carlos Alberto
Carlos Alberto will be donning a Werder Bremen jersey in the future. All parties involved in the transfer met on Friday (July 13th) to finalise the deal on the Brazilian's move to Bremen and over the next few days the formalities will be completed.
Alberto passed his fitness test in Bremen on Thursday and signed on the dotted line Friday afternoon.
Off to training camp
A guest player permit issued by the German government will allow the 22 year old Brazilian to join his new team mates in their training camp and take part in friendly matches. Alberto and Werder managing director Klaus Allofs will travel together to the training camp in Bad Ragaz.
Born in Rio de Janeiro and named Carlos Alberto Gomes de Jesus, the midfielder is now looking forward to coming to Germany and putting on a Werder uniform.
"When I was playing for Porto, the name Werder meant something to me. I heard a lot about the club. Werder are a strong team, they're successful and seem to have a good attitude. I want to be happy here but I am aware that I have a lot of work to do and will have to train hard if I'm to fulfil the expectations of the team, the trainer and the fans", explained the Brazilian, who is not at all worried about the changes he is expecting to face.
"Integrating won't be difficult
"This week is the first time I've been to Bremen and I liked it immediately. Everyone was really nice and friendly to me. I dont think the integration will be difficult. I have played together with Diego and Hugo Almeida and I know Naldo personally too. We're friends.
Werder is Alberto's fourth club as a professional. The midfield man began in Fulminense in 2000 before moving to Porto in 2004. A year later he was signed by Corinthians but returned to Fulminense on loan in 2006.
In 2004 he won the Champions League with FC Porto and then the Intercontinental Cup with the Corinthians in 2005. In the Champions League final, the then 19 year old scored the opening goal for his club who then went on to beat AS Monaco 3-0. Last season he scored six goals in twenty games for Fulminense and won the Brazilian cup.

You are comparing Diego with Carlos Alberto ?
Diego is absolute class, but Carlos Alberto is just a trouble maker. Yes he has talent, but he has no discipline, nor does he have the mentality structure to succeed.

You are just bashing him because he left Porto
We all know he a great dribbler, he shoots well and has good vision, of course he will succeed.

We were the ones that decided to sell him because he was starting shit with Mourinho.
He is talented as I said above, but he is too greedy to ever become a successful player.

You are wrong. You say Carlos Alberto is not a good player, when he clearly is. He will prove why we spent so much money on him, you will see

When did I say Carlos Alberto isn't a good player ? I said he is talented, just doesn't have the mental structure to become a world class player like Diego!
