One of the best players at Bremen so far.
A great signing, he had the tough job of replacing Micoud, but he is doing it very well.

Werder Bremen's in-form Brazilian midfield star Diego has revealed that he is keen to return to the national side after taking the Bundesliga by storm since his summer switch from Porto.

The youngster is set to meet Brazil's new coach Dunga, who replaced Carlos Alberto Parreira after the Selecao's poor showing at the World Cup in Germany this year, during a charity game for UNICEF in Dusseldorf next week and hinted that he will have a word with the former Stuttgart star.

"Dunga knows very well what I am doing in Bremen and we will talk about the matter. It would be a dream come true to play for my country," claimed the 21-year-old, who quickly won the hearts at the Werder-Stadium.

Diego has scored three spectacular goals and created seven goals in as many Bundesliga games, while he has also impressed in the UEFA Champions League.

The playmaker has already represented his country on 12 occasions, but lost his place last summer when he failed to make the starting formation at Porto after a dispute with then-coach Co Adriaanse.

His glamorous debut in the Bundesliga showed why Bremen paid a club-record of €6 million (£4 million) for the gifted midfielder - who once won the Brazilian title while starring alongside Robinho at FC Santos - and Diego stressed that he is enjoying his time in Germany.

"It's great fun to represent this team and I came to Bremen in order to win some silverware," explained Diego ahead of the weekend clash with Bayern Munich.
