coloured names etc. - TalkSoccer

On some forums you can buy this thing, abit like a membership, which gives you priveleges on the forum in return for the money that keeps the site running.
The priveleges normally include stuff like having a coloured name, being able to close their own threads, being able to see who gave rep etc. Is there such a thing
on TS? and if not, do only moderators get these priveleges?

As a staff member, and maybe in the name of admins, I can say the following:

On other forums, there's the eStore system installed, which provides username color change and stuff.

Here we don't have that thing, and we don't plan to add it either.

Various colors make the forum look so childish and immature.

Here only staff can close threads and such, but only for their specific section (unless you're admin/super mod you can edit/close/etc everywhere).

But, we can't change colors either, for that reason I stated earlier that 'Various colors make the forum look so childish and immature'. Admins have all one color (Red), Mods have one (Green) and Super Mods have one (Blue).

And yes, we do have the permission to see who repped us and such.

I see what your saying podolski, and all i can say in response, i guess is that here privlegages cant be bought, they have to be earned...You earn the right to Have a different colour name, close threads, change threads, and see who repped you based on how much you contribute to the site. If you want to earn the privlegages of a mod/amdin, you have to earn them....They arent impossible to obtain either, you just have to work hard. Trims only been here 7 months ive only been here 4 months, and we are both already established memebers and mods of more then 1 section/forum on the site. Just keeping working hard and contibuting to the site, and you never know when you might be selected as a mod or something

Thanks for your replies. Having to earn the priveleges is a much better way to run
the forum I think, but the other forums I visit are smaller and run off their own members, but I guess TS is sucessful enough not to do that :P fair enough. I don't
think I will be active enough to become a mod though, since I really only post when the thread concerns me, my fav clubs or the game i'm watching :P

Let me add, that I would never be part of a forum, that charged for such trivial things. A forum, a community if you will, should be FREE. In all aspects. In terms of seeing who gave rep or stuff like that, its for administration purposes, in terms of abuse and such.

If you want to support, click on a banner link if you see something that interests you, but TS will be free as long as I'm here.

no.. i meant real money. The main reason why people do it is to help keep the forum running, some smaller forums need it.
