apparently Pauleta was too expensive (wages) so they decided to get Postiga instead.

A big part of this deal that has not been talk about is that Sporting is going to sign his younger Brother 12 year old Jose Postiga. Who was voted the best player in the Under 12 World Cup. He is at Varzim and scored 65 goals in 28 games. last season. He reminds people of Fernado Torres. He is faster and more of a Natural Goal Scorer then his older Brother

FC Porto striker Helder Postiga has signed for Sporting Clube de Portugal in a €2.5m deal that also sees 17-year-old Diogo Viana travel in the opposite direction.
'Very happy'
"I am very happy to represent this great club," Postiga said. "It is a unique opportunity to give my career a new boost." Postiga has signed a three-year contract with Sporting, though Porto retain 50 per cent of the player's registration and will receive half of any future transfer. The 25-year-old Postiga came through the Porto academy and played for them from 2001 to 2003 before moving to Tottenham Hotspur FC for a year. He returned to Porto in 2004, then had a spell on loan at AS Saint-Etienne in 2005 before a similar arrangement at Panathinakos FC in Greece from January this season. Postiga has scored ten times in 32 appearances for Portugal.

If that's true, then I understand but Porto have good young wingers, dumb move!
Pauleta is going to retire. We should've gotten a winger, Sporting has no creative flare in that position.

If Pauleta ever decides to come to Portugal hes most likely only going to go to one club and thats Sporting. But is Soares Franco willing to pay a big amount for an old worn out player? I think not..

pauleta would have been good for 1 year but Kahn stated he demanded too high of wages
pauleta im sure would have scored a solid number of goals.
postiga is a bit of a gamble, but i think all he needs is a coach's confidence. AS I said Sporting plays 2 strikers so its a better situation for him he will have more chances to play and Bento seems to be a admirer of him...
hes still only 25 so he can help us in the long term. hopefully he improves and scores goals next year

I used to like Postiga, but then he stopped performing on a consistent basis. I really do hope he gets his form back.
