Guti believes that he and Raúl still have a chance of winning a recall to the Spain squad for the remaining Euro 2008 qualifiers after a difficult week for the national team.
The Real Madrid midfielder has played 13 times for his country, but has not been included for two years while Raúl has been left out by Luis Aragonés' since last year.
Despite that, Guti does not believe that his and Raúl's chances have gone completely and believes that it is down to the coach's personal desire to play a certain way.
"I think we are and we would like to contribute our part in order to be in the Euro," he explained.
"I've never lost hope, although I know it's complicated. I've never heard that the door has been shut on me, but the coach is looking for another kind of player."
After watching from the outside, Guti is unsure if there are the reported problems within the Spain camp and reflected that he only had good memories of hit time on the international scene.
"Only they know how to resolve their problems;" he continued. "As fans, we're all hoping to make it to the 2008 Euro.
"I can't comment on what's going on because I'm not at the camp or training sessions. I really don't know what is going on. I always felt good when I was on international duty."
Having won their first two games of the league season, Guti admitted that he hopes that the international break does not affect Real Madrid's form.
"Let's hope not," he stated. "A lot of players left and you never know how fit they will be when they return. We have to continue counting on the football we've been playing until now and we have to make sure we win as many games at home as possible.
"Teams need to know that winning in the Bernabéu is complicated."
