Congratulations. The next generation Spain.

Spain takes it all. The only thing they are missing is results in World Cup and European Cup for the main national team.

Well done Spain, they have been class the whole tournament.

I'm glad our boys gave you a good game. We were very good 1st half and only came back to life when we put on 2 strikers deep in the second half, we gave you a scare and were unlucky for it not to go to extra time (very unlucky). We've made the WC which is a big plus.

I hope so. Probably 3/4 will make it all the way as our youngsters have a habit of not coming through.

Greece And Spain To Meet In Euro U-19 Final

Quote:
Ten-man Greece defeated Germany 3-2 to earn a place in the final of the European U-19 Championship, where they will meet holders Spain, who beat France 4-2 in the penalty shootout to advance.

Despite falling behind from early on and playing the last thirty minutes of the match with ten players after Vassilis Pliatsikas was sent off, Greece managed to fight back on both occasions, making it eventually into the final of the competition for the first time in country’s history with a much deserved 3-2 victory over Germany.

Panathinaikos’ wunderkind Sotiris Ninis equalized for Greece four minutes before the end of the first half, Anis Ben-Hatira early lead for Germany and Olympiacos forward Costas Mitroglou made it 2-1 on 58 minutes.

However, nothing was over yet as Greece were reduced to ten men on 62 minutes after Vassilis Pliatsikas was shown a red card (he was already yellow-carded) and three minutes later they lost their advantage when Ben-Hatira converted a spot-kick following a foul on substitute Sidney Sam.

Greece’s determined display was rewarded, though, when newly-introduced Andreas Lampropoulos headed home a last minute corner to send Nikos Noplias’ boys into Friday’s final.

There will meet Spain, who dumped out France with a 4-2 victory in the penalty shootout after 120 goalless minutes and will have the chance to defend their title at this level for a third time in a row.

Man of the match and Spain’s hero was substitute goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo, who ensured extra time with a couple of timely saves before denying France’s challenge altogether in the penalties.

Greece and Spain will be met for a second time in the tournament. During the group stage they played out a blank draw.

I guess by the posts in this thread that this tournament is every year (which I guess makes sense consider there is U-17, U-19, U-20, U-21, U-23 and 4 years for the next World Cup would skip out a generation.)

But Spain are so succesful in Youth Tournaments and a win in Friday's final will make them Champions 3 times in a row. Considering it's not the same generation winning it every time it must mean that Spanish youth in general is pretty strong.

I would like to congratulate Spain on their win yesterday, obviously I am very annoyed that Greece lost especially as the goal you scored was just so... I think the free kick was well taken but I hoped the keeper could save it. This is the 5th consecutive time that Greece has lost to Spain 1-0 in football. I was hoping that after the 3-2 win over Germany we would be able to beat you but we just couldn't.

BTW the Spanish keeper was really gd.
