A great footballer and an even more a great man left this world on August 28, 2007.
He played for Sevilla FC in La Liga.He was affected with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, he died on 28 August 2007, three days after suffering a series of cardiac arrests during a league game against Getafe CF on 25 August 2007.
He was only 22 years old, about to be a father and was going to make a big name for himself and he is dead before his adventure even starts
This really hit me for personal reasons as well, we can go at any time. I never use to take it seriously, thinking I would live till I couldn’t even go to the toilet myself. It also made me realise that I shouldn’t be wasting my time. That I should try and do everything that I want, because time is not on my side.
Forgot about me, this will be a thread to remember him. Instead of feeling sad about puerta's death, i want to celebrate his life and his achievements.
He came through sevillas's youth ranks and eventually held down a starting spot in the first team in the 2005-06 season. He received his debut cap for spain last season, and with his talent would no doubt have been given more caps in the future.
He was also an important part of the sevilla that team that:
- -Won the uefa cup twice in a row.
- -Came third in the spanish league last season and had every chance of winning it.
- -Won the Copa del Rey twice in a row,
- -Beat madrid to win the supercopa this year
- -Put on a great performance to emphatically beat barcelona 4-0 in the european super cup,
- - Qualified for the champions league this year,
- -and basically was the most exciting team in europe over the past 2 seasons.
- - Heavily linked to several top clubs in Barcelona, real madrid, manchester united and arsenal.
I'm not saying this just because he has died, but he really was a great player. Who can forget the way he run past our players in the supercup.
Rest in peace antonio puerta.
Also should mention Miki Feher,Marc-Vivien Foe,Chaswe Nsofwe,Rhys Jones and many other people that have died due to footballing reasons, Rest in peace and you guys will also never be forgotten.
