Osasuna's Nekounam could miss season

IranSportsPress.com - Javad Nekounam could miss out the season after rupturing the cruciate ligament in his right knee.

According to reports from Spain by both club and Spanish daily Marca, he will be out for at least 6 months, but according to Marca he could even miss the rest of the season.

Nekounam picked the injury after coming in as a sub in the 63rd minute of a friendly against Villareal and after just 5 minutes, he had to be carried off. He had just joined the team on Monday after the Asian Cup.

Nekounam was supposed to become an important jigsaw of Osasuna's midfield, after the club sold star player Raul Garcia to Atletico Madrid, and this news comes as a terrible blow for Javad, the club and also the national team.

We wish Javad Nekounam a speedy recovery from this injury.

fuck. he did so well last year and he was great in the Asian Cup. I really hope he recovers from this quickly and well, he's doing a great job as the first (and currently only) Iranian to play in La Liga.

Osasuna could struggle a lot this season.

They lost Raul Garcia and David Lopez for £12m and Soldado went back to Real Madrid and they've replaced him with Portillo who might not be as good. Now they've lost Nekounam so we may see them fighting off relegation if they're unlucky.

Osasuna and Real Madrid should've agreed one more year for Soldado. He did a great job for them last season, and he'll struggle getting a place in the starting lineup for Madrid with Van Nistelrooy, Raul, Saviola, Baptista and Higuain.
