Laudrup To Take Over At Panathinaikos
Quote:
Michael Laudrup has reached an agreement to take over at Greek outfit Panathinaikos for the next two seasons after leaving Getafe at the end of last term.
The Danish coach had been tipped to remain in Spain, but the lure of Champions League football and €2.5m-per-year was too much for him to resist.
Negotiations were held in Madrid between Laudrup, his agent and Pana directors Costas Antoniou and Jasminko Velis and a deal was reached that saw him agree to become the new trainer.
Laudrup will have full control over all transfer and has been given the remit of restructuring the football side of the club during his time there.
Panathinaikos qualified for the Champions League after finishing third in the league and coming through a play-off against AEK, Aris and Larisa and that helped land the Dane.
CSKA held talks with Laudrup before the Champions League final in Moscow which he attended and Galatasaray were also said to be keen to hold further talks.
Last month Laudrup announced that he felt a chapter had finished at Getafe and that he wanted to leave, meaning that Panathinaikos will now foot the €960,000 cancellation clause he had with the Madrid-based outfit.
Jon Jensen has also agreed to go to Greece as his number two while Eric Larsen has been installed to watch opposition teams and scout players.

Goal.com - Greece - Laudrup To Take Over At Panathinaikos
La Liga loses it's third young manager in the space of about a week and the second to Greece. Laudrup will earn more at Panathinaikos than Guardiola will at Barcelona by an extra 20%.
Shame to lose Laudrup, I was hoping he'd take over at Santander or Espanyol.
