Royals eye McCann

Reading have admitted an interest in Saints winger Neil McCann - but fear they are unlikely to get him.
After narrowly missing out on the play-offs, the Royals are determined to make a powerful push for the Premiership next season.

Manager Steve Coppell has been given money to strengthen and his priority is a left-winger.
He has eyed up several potential targets with McCann reportedly near the top of the list.

The 29-year-old has struggled to establish himself since his £1.5m move from Rangers just under a year ago with a succession of niggling injuries holding him back.
The Berkshire club would like to take him but want a permanent signing and fear Southampton would only allow him out on loan.

Royals chief executive Nigel Howe said: "McCann is one of hundreds of players we know about - we are aware of every left-sider who could be available in this country.
"But it's unlikely Southampton would allow him to leave permanently. They wouldd probably only allow him to come on loan and we want to sign someone permanently, so it's unlikely he'll come here."
