Adu had the first chance of the game, but he put his free kick from 22 yards out off the outside netting to the left of goalkeeper Christopher Toselli in the 10th minute. Adu nearly connected with Jozy Altidore on another free kick in the 18th minute, but Toselli did well to punch the ball away from the Red Bulls forward.

The pair of MLS standout forwards combined for the goal as Altidore outmuscled a Chilean defender, dribbled into the box and crossed to a wide open Adu at the top of the box. The Real Salt Lake forward took one touch before beating Toselli with a left-footed shot from 16 yards out on 34 minutes.

He had an assist.

I've never seen Altidore play so I can't really compare them two.

Yep, They really impressed me. As soons as they beat canada 3-0, I knew they had something special.
I believe they can beat the Argies. I know that they have a good chance of winning.

the winner of this match (argentina vs. chile) is considered as the clear favourite for the championship. so this match is like a final.
chile's win over nigeria is confusing.. looking at the result: 4-0 you think they're realy in a good shape and smash teams etc, but they played 90 minutes against average nigeria and couldn't score! so they're not that good.
interesting fact about chile, is that they come to the semi-final when they conceded no goals (!) 6 matches, 0 goals against..(argentina conceded 1)
and they say s.american defences suck.

Chile international Jimenez joins the Serie A champions - inter milan - on a one year loan from Italian third division side Ternana, who own the player.
The 23-year-old has also played for Inter's Serie A rivals Fiorentina and Lazio.

chile 1 - 2 Switzerland
Chile lost 2-1 for Switzerland in a freindly.
'El Loco' chile's argentinian coach was very disappointed with the result but he was happy about the way his team played.

Marcelo Bielsa, the Argentine manager of the Chilean national team, has announced his squad for his team's two upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay.
Chile, who lost against Argentina, and then went on to beat Peru in their opening two qualifiers, are hoping to pick up positive results against very difficult opponents.
Bielsa has selected Humberto Suazo, Marcelo Salas, Matias Fernandez, and Milovan Mirosevic in his squad, and there are very high expectations for his team.
Chile will face Uruguay on the 18th of November in Montevideo, and then will do battle with Paraguay on the 21st of November.
The most significant new additions to the squad were that of Colo Colo pair Rodolfo Moya and Gonzalo Jara.
Chile haven't qualified for the World Cup since 1998. That year they went undefeated in the group stage, but were eliminated in the round of sixteen, after a 4-1 defeat against eventual finalists Brazil.
Marcelo Bielsa's Chile Squad
Goalkeepers: Claudio Bravo (Real Sociedad) and Nicolas Peric (Audax Italiano).
Defenders: Cristian Alvarez (Beitar Jerusalem), Ismael Fuentes (Jaguares), Waldo Ponce (Universidad de Chile) and Miguel Riffo (Colo Colo).
Midfielders: Hugo Droguett (Tecos), Matias Fernandez (Villarreal), Gonzalo Fierro (Colo Colo), Mauricio Isla (Udinese), Manuel Iturra (Universidad de Chile), Gonzalo Jara, (Colo Colo), Luis Jimenez (Inter de Milan), Claudio Maldonado (Santos), Milovan Mirosevic (Beitar Jerusalem), Arturo Vidal (Bayer Leverkusen) and Carlos Villanueva (Audax Italiano).
Strikers: Juan Gonzalo Lorca (Vitesse), Rodolfo Moya (Colo Colo), Fabian Orellana (Audax Italiano), Eduardo Rubio (Colo Colo), Marcelo Salas (Universidad de Chile) and Humberto Suazo (Monterrey).
