Good move by Flores, hopefully Nelson Oliveira gets called at some point in the season. It would be good experience.

Carvalhas is a workhorse but a midget, small in stature. Coentrao deserves playing time, he needs some work.

I believe he will be our Chalana, good winger, fast and plays wide.

Good quotes for the Benfica fan who has lost all hope (From Planet Benfica):

Quique wants Benfica revival
Benfica's manager Quique Flores considers Benfica as one of the greats in Europe that has unfortunately been lying low for too long.

"I am preparing the team for the UEFA Cup, it's what I have been doing. We will play in the competition were we have to play. Benfica were in the Champions League last season and have to think about getting back to it."

"It's a big club just like Valencia was. Benfica has been sleeping, so to speak, and we are trying to turn it around, that's my job. I have my own ways and methods of doing things and it will be an important role."

Captain pleased over changes

Nuno Gomes assured the fans that they will see a team fighting on all fronts for the upcoming season and that the squad is heading in the right direction.

"We are going to do everything to reach as far as possible in the UEFA Cup, but in the following season we want the Champions League."

"We can promise hard work, only then we can take Benfica to the victories it deserves. We have to be committed because we haven't won anything in the last few seasons and we are motivated to do well."

The Portuguese International began his training for the new season this week after being involved Euro 2008 Championships and he already sees improvements.

"There are new staff and new methods in working. I am on the third day of training and I am happy with what I have seen so far. Our manager is young but he has experience and his way of working will be beneficial to us."

"The team is much more balanced compared to last year. We are thinking about the future and the team that we want to build."
