It's better for you really, I don't see the point of this signing.
You already have a target man in Cardozo, why sign another one ? You'd have to bench one and I can't see benfica benching 9m € Cardozo, so Makukula would just be an expensive sub, not worth it IMO.
Imagine the 2 playing, who would move out of the box and come deep to get the ball ? None...
Also, Makukula can't create for himself, he needs someone else to send the through balls and crosses, other than Rui Costa and Rodriguez, no one else can make good passes.. Definitely not Maxi.
Plus, he has had several injury problems throughout his career and considering how great your medical staff is, he would end up like Mantorras.
Pointless signing if it indeed happens IMO

Maniche is not the player he use to be either guys. Don't get mesmerised by what he was a few years ago.

"mesmerized??" Obviously we all know he is not the same he was, just like Rui Costa isn't the same he used to be, but I guarantee he is a bigger upgrade than what we have.

Yes it would be some improvement, but it would go against what it needed. We started with the youth movement and now we start bringing in older players ? Makukula made sence because he has tallent and is yonung. Going after a midfielder like Pele would make sense. This is just my opininion. Go young and tallented. Otherwise, lets bring in Maniche, Pauleta.......I was under the impression that Benfica were going to stop doing that. I could be wrong.

It's very simple, when a club says they are going to go young they will never have an entire pitch full of young players, you always need veterans to guide them and pull them by the ears when they need it. It is simple Benfica is pretty young as it is, what they need is a veteran like a Maniche or another Rui Costa to make plays, open up the field and to tell these young guns what to do and how to do it. Rui Costa is all alone on the attack (play making).

Fair enough. Good point, but even if I were to agree with you, I dont see Maniche as that type of player. Not now or before. I understand your point though. Too young is not good. Look at our (playing line up) we still have planty of veterane players. The need for play making mids is a fair comment. I jsut dont see Maniche as the answere to that.

I agree with your thoughts on Maniche and his play making abilities, but you understood my overall point of needing veteran play makers.

From what I hear, WEST HAM- Luis Boa Morte can be purchased if the right offer comes around. I think he could do well for us.

That's great news!
I don't care how you slice it, Makukula is a good solid young forward who has a knack for the net and has had it for the past few years when he came into his own. Any time you can add a solid player you do it every time, I don't care if you have that position already filled with some players. I'm a bit bias and perhaps a bit overdoing it because I'm actually a fan of Makukula but I've always thought this kid was made for Benfica... This is great news in my opinion. GREAT news. Now this is more like it... a young but experienced player who can help you NOW.
