Adu I never played my natural position in the MLS
ESPNsoccernet - US - Folarin: Q&A with Freddy Adu
enjo
was great; they welcomed me with open arms. When I got to the airport, there were tons of fans and press waiting to welcome me to the country and the city. It makes you feel good that they really appreciate you and your talent. They want to have me there and the guys, half of them speak English, which makes it even better and easier for me to fit in and communicate with them.
They told me they have been watching me, they watched the U-20 World Cup and they were very impressed, and such comments make you feel a little bit comfortable with the guys.

by the way Leandro Lima now plays for Porto and doing very well
was a great victory. Brazil is Brazil regardless of who wears that jersey. We were definitely the underdogs going into that game. I had always said all along that we had the talent to beat anybody in the tournament, and we proved it on that day.
They have some great players in Pato, [Leandro] Lima, Jo and all these other guys that are probably going to be sold for about $20 million each. It said a lot about our team, and I was very proud to captain a U.S. team in a game of that magnitude and go on to win.
I think I did myself a lot of good in that aspect, and my overall performance in the competition -- like the hat trick against Poland -- proved doubters wrong and renewed interest from Europe.

I plan on being nice but making that transition to a competitive league, will be tough.
I think adu has the skills but does he have the physical capacity to hold his own.

More from Freddy on his website. The kids seems very humble. I'm excited to see what he can do for us
"Hey! I’m doing extremely well here in Lisbon. I love it here and most importantly I love the team! This is the level I always wanted to play at, it’s fast paced and skillful. Every training session is intense and challenging. I’m becoming really close with guys like Manuel Fernandez and Rui Costa. The guys have been very helpful and have been giving me advice. How many 18 year old Americans have the privilege of have Rui Costa as a mentor!? I feel special. Haha. On another note, I found a place to live. It’s a very nice 3 bedroom condominium. I lucked out because it comes furnished which is very helpful. I don’t have to go buy furniture or anything. I went shopping for bed linens and kitchen utensils yesterday and it was one of the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Haha, I don’t speak Portuguese yet and that makes everything hard here, especially shopping for things I need. Fortunately, I ended up finding someone who spoke English who helped out.
I’m VERY excited about our match this Tuesday. The first game I get to potentially play for Benfica is a Champions League home qualifier. How cool is that!? Hopefully I’m able to get some playing time in that game because that would be really cool. I feel very blessed right now and I want all my fans, and all the fans of Benfica, to know that I am going to work harder than I’ve ever worked before to make the most the amazing opportunity I have been given.
Thanks for all the comments and the warm welcome to the team!"

I see him coming in for Rui Costa sometime in the second half of the Copenhaga game.
