I had no doubt that Rui would return to Benfica. I remember watching him play for Fiorentino at the Meadowlands against Aston Villa and as he was walking off the field at halftime I was standing above the tunnel when I shouted to Rui that he should return Benfica. I remember him stopping and looking up and smiling then continue to walk off the pitch. I realized that this was a true Benfica fan and I never doubted his return.

I too had a similar moment. I went to see the Italian Cup final with Rui and Milan against Juve. Milan lost and Ruio was upset but he saw me there with a Portuguese flag that had written on it. Rui Costa Benfica-Portugal and he gave me the thumbs up. I am still mad at him because I was down below and screamed his name and he never came to me to give me a jersey. But I still love him and he is my favorite player of all time.
