today we salute Nene the last player the scored two goals against Italy on a 2-1 - that was 32 yrs ago

Foi em 1976 que Portugal venceu a Itália pela última vez. Nené decidiu o jogo, realizado em Alvalade, ao marcar os 2 golos da selecção orientada por José Maria Pedroto. Do lado oposto actuou Fabio Capello, actual seleccionador inglês, além de Zoff, Tardelli, Scirea, Graziani, Bettega, Gentile, Antognoni ou Causio (autor do golo) – a base dos campeões de 1982.

De então para cá, Ricardo Quaresma foi apenas o quarto jogador a marcar pelos lusos aos transalpinos – Nuno Valente, Fernando Couto e Jordão também conseguiram bater os respectivos “portieri” italianos.
