AC Milan Pour Scorn On Rui Costa Rumours
AC Milan Pour Scorn On Rui Costa Rumours
AC Milan have poured scorn on speculation linking Rui Costa with a move away from the Serie A club, dousing talk that the Portuguese star is Old Trafford bound.
The 32-year-old was mentioned as a possible Reds transfer target in Tuesday's UK press, but Milan are ardent in their response.
"It's nonsense," sporting director Ariedo Braida told Maisfutebol Radio. "Rui Costa is staying at Milan and he is non-transferable."
Rui Costa was part of the Portugal squad that reached the final of the recent European Championships in front of his home crowd.
However, any chance that Reds boss Ferguson, known to be an admirer of the former Fiorentina and Benfica forward, could bring Rui Costa to England have been dashed in emphatic fashion.
"It is impossible that Rui Costa will leave," continued Braida. "He is certainly staying with Milan."
Report by Ben Hibbs.

United chase Rui Costa
July 27, 2004
LONDON (AFP) - Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson wants veteran Portugal's Rui Costa to add midfield sparkle to his English Premiership challenge.
Ferguson is offering to take the Portugal midfielder on loan from AC Milan and pick up his 55,000-pound-a-week salary.
Costa, who scored a 20-metre wonder goal against England in Euro 2004, is considering the offer after both clubs agreed terms, The Sun reports.

Milan were believed to be keen to offload Costa from their wage bill as Brazilian star Kaka has moved ahead in the pecking order.
Costa, 32, retired from international football at the end of Euro 2004 to concentrate on his club and spend more time with wife Rute.
Ferguson wants to add creativity and experience to his midfield and is keen on a player with no commitments to his national team.
Old Trafford's Portuguese No 2 Carlos Queiroz is a big fan of Costa.
Costa is a brilliant passer with excellent close control. He can also run with the ball and Ferguson believes he can do plenty of damage in the Premiership.

Official: Benfica Sign Karadas
Quote:
GOAL.com reported 24 hours ago that Benfica had signed striker Azar Karadas from Rosenborg, and now both clubs have officially confirmed the deal.
Karadas, who has been capped by Norway at all levels, impressed the Lisbon Eagles last season during their Third Round UEFA Cup clash with Rosenborg.
The 22-year-old is a powerful striker who is also a good ball dribbler and is dangerous from free-kicks.
He has signed a four year deal and will arrive in Lisbon on Thursday.
Benfica were eager to close out this deal because they did not want Karadas to play for Rosenborg in their Champions League qualifier today against FC Sheriff. If he were to play, he would be rendered cup tied and would be unable to represent Benfica in their Third Round Champions qualifier.
Karadas has scored 3 goal for Rosenborg, who are currently topping the Norweigan Premier League, this season.
Last year he bagged 8 goals in his first season with the club, he had previously played with SK Brann of Norway where he scored 15 goals in 50 first team appearences.

Newcastle wants Miguel, MU and Real Madrid
Benfica will not go down on the 15 million euros for Miguel, Bobby Robson the club wants the player but can't afford the 15 million euros,
Real Madrid and Manchester United could be matching the 15 million euros Benfica asking price

BENFICA
