U20 Joao Pereira is now a household name
Benfica Eager To Secure Prodigy Pereira
12/09/2003. Following his amazing display on Sunday against Pacos Ferreira, Joao Pereira is now a household name in Portugal.
Pereira, who wears number 47 for Benfica, said he would like to continue playing for the Lisbon Eagles. Pereira's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and this has alerted some of Europe's top clubs.
Club president Luís Filipe Vieira will meet with Pereira's agent Jose Veiga in hopes of securing the promising winger this week
The 18 year old Pereira has 3 goals in the Superliga this season and 1 goal in the Portuguese Cup and is a fan favorite in Lisbon.
Benfica's President Vieira has already locked up Miguel until 2008 and is also trying secure long term deals with goalkeeper Jose Moreira, Ricardo ROCHA and Tiago.

Not only that but his wages would kill Benfica. That would be money well spent trying to lock up some of there young players And his time in midfield would take away from players like Roger development.

Benfica v. Rosenborg
the Rosenborg coach just got the job as manager of the Norwegian national side, but he's very well respected assistant will take over for him at Rosenborg... He has never managed a team before so it could go i benficas favor, but if we manage to play like we know we can we shouldn't have much of a problem beating Benfica, we have beaten teams like Porto, Real Madrid Dortmund, Juve, Deportiva etc. etc. and this is the first time in god knows how many years we've not managed to reach the group play of the cl... Deportivo beat us by one goal in the qualifiers
we're clearly the best team in Scandinavia and we're second to none at Lerkendal(home pitch) where we seldome loose in the CL, but our season finished a few months ago so our problem is first of all that we're not in form while our oponents are in the "midle" of their season and play matches every week

Rivaldo a move to Benfica may interest him
12/17/2003. Former Milan playmaker Rivaldo has revealed that a move to Benfica may interest him.
"I would not overlook the possibility of playing in a world class club such as Benfica Lisbon," he told Portuguese newspaper 'A Bola'.
The Brazilian is currently looking for a new club after being released by the Rossoneri.

Since when has Benfica been a 'World Class Team'? They were a World Class Team, but they haven't won the Portuguese season in 9 years and hvae stunk in European compitions in the last 10 years.
