Benfica to compete in the Pro liga





A saída do Benfica da Liga de Clubes está a colocar em dúvida o arranque da próxima edição do campeonato profissional. Isto porque, até ao momento, apenas existem oito equipas candidatas a participar na principal competição da LCB, número mínimo permitido por lei.

Na reunião geral de clubes, realizada na passada segunda-feira, em Pombal, sete equipas desde logo manifestaram disponibilidade para integrar a edição 2007/2008, do Campeonato da Liga (Ovarense, FC Porto, Lusitânia, Belenenses, Ginásio, CAB Madeira e Barreirense). Resta o Queluz, que enviou um fax para a LCB, no dia 30 de Maio, véspera da data limite para os clubes manifestarem a intenção de participar no campeonato, anunciando que é sua vontade integrar a competição profissional mas tem, primeiro, de resolver os problemas financeiros com que se debate.

“Queremos participar no campeonato da Liga. Estamos a trabalhar para resolver os problemas financeiros com que nos deparamos. Só depois confirmaremos a inscrição. Para já o fax enviado a 30 de Maio é válido, mesmo sabendo que a Liga dilatou o prazo para 15 de Junho”, disse-nos Carlos Pinto, dirigente do clube da Linha de Sintra.
