I know it's paper talk but I think big clubs would have to have taken notice of him after his blinding-world beater-form (played blinders against Ukraine, Barca and Celtic).

I know he's a Rangers boy but surely this will turn his head and he may leave. Talking to some Teddy Bears they think it's only a matter of time, if he keeps on this run of form.

I know Lazio showed an interest at the start of the season but he decided to stay at Rangers.

Do you think you'll keep him?

I think he will stay, for the time-being anyway. You only have to look at Barry Ferguson to see that things dont always go the way you planned. Im sure he will be around for a few more seasons yet. He knows he can learn a lot from Walter Smith and Ally McCoist and is a first pick at Rangers.

He is guaranteed European football every season. If he keeps maturing, then whos to say he cannot go on to captain the club a few years down the line.

He is a head-strong boy and im sure he wont let talk of a move unsettle him. From a Rangers point of view I really hope he stays.

The papers say that Rangers have put 8M price-tag on him. Although didn't Chimbonda go for 9M to Spurs? I'd want atleast 12M for Hutton.

I think it's clear at this point that Man Utd are keeping a close eye on him and I'm sure all the top clubs have tabs on him.

Alan Hutton is an attack minded right-back who made his Rangers debut against Partick Thistle on 22 December 2002. That proved to be his first and last appearance that season, however, he made eleven appearances during 2003-04, scoring his first goal against Dunfermline Athletic at Ibrox on 23 March 2004.


Hutton continued to improve, making twelve appearances during 2004-05 as the club won both the SPL and the Scottish League Cup. Hutton broke his leg in February 2005 whilst playing a Scottish Premier League match against Kilmarnock, he was sidelined for eight months. The 2005-06 season proved to be difficult for Rangers domestically, however Hutton made twenty-three appearances in the first team including games against Villarreal in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Hutton put pen to paper on a new five-year contract with Rangers in the summer of 2007. Since then he has started the the 2007-08 season well, drawing comparisons to Brazilian Cafu. He was part of the Scotland team that famously beat France at the Parc de Princes in September 2007, and won Sky Sports man of the match award when Scotland beat Ukraine in October 2007. He also played an instrumental part in Rangers opening UEFA Champions League group match victories against VfB Stuttgart and Olympique Lyonnais, assisting Charlie Adam for the equaliser and winning the penalty that Jean-Claude Darcheville converted against VfB Stuttgart and winning the corner that led to the opening goal from Lee McCulloch and assisting Daniel Cousin for the second goal against Olympique Lyonnais.

In November 2007, he was linked in the media with a transfer away from Rangers but his agent dismissed the speculation, stating that Hutton is happy at Rangers. On 2 December 2007 it was reported that a bid of eight million pounds would be enough for a move away from Ibrox, with Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and a host of Serie A clubs keeping tabs on him. Hutton's boyhood heroes are Rangers so it is uncertain whether he would leave given the chance.


International
Along with team-mate Charlie Adam, Hutton was called up by manager Alex McLeish to the Scotland squad for the first time on May 11, 2007 for a friendly against Austria and a Euro 2008 qualifying match against the Faroe Islands. He made his international debut against Austria on May 30, 2007, coming on as a substitute. Hutton made his competitive Scotland debut against Lithuania in September of that year. He had previously been capped by Scotland at under 21 and B levels.

We were put under a lot of pressure against Lyon. He didnt really get the opportunity to push forward. One of our better performers I thought.

Rangers and Scotland full-back Alan Hutton's decision to turn down a move to Tottenham has "delighted" his club manager Walter Smith.
The Scottish club accepted a bid of about £8m from the Premier League club for the 23-year-old but he decided to reject the move on Thursday evening.

"We received a bid that was reluctantly accepted, but the player himself wants to remain at Rangers," said Smith.

"From a footballing perspective that is good news."

Hutton signed a new five-year deal at Ibrox in July, and has caught the eye with some outstanding displays for club and country this season.

The 23-year-old had also been linked with a move to Newcastle.

The right-back received praise from Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson following his performances in Scotland's Euro 2008 campaign.

Speaking last month, Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist urged Hutton to remain at Ibrox.

"I'd like him to stay here for a long time and win things with Rangers," McCoist said.

"I have no doubt Alan is destined for great things but I believe those great things can be with Rangers. We don't want to lose players of his quality."

Good on him. He's no doubt rejected a move to better league and better money (although I think Rangers are a bigger club than Tottenham).
I'm glad he didn't move to Spurs because they have a habit of ruining promising defenders.

I hope one day Man Utd come in for him. Our Scottish youngsters playing for the biggest clubs can only be good.

Well I think Bosingwa is highly unlikely for United atm considering his valuation.

I think Hutton will move on, it must be hard for even the most loyal Rangers/Celtic players to turn down a move to (especially) England's top clubs before they peak. I'd like to see Hutton join us although Gary Neville is now back in contention again

I reckon he'll still go either in January or the summer.

These days without question. He has defensive flaws in his game but for a 22-year-old his quality is unreal. I mean how good was Gary Neville at 22, lol.

Rangers and Scotland full-back Alan Hutton has rejected a second approach from Tottenham, BBC Sport understands.

The 23-year-old last week turned down the chance to join the English Premier League club after Rangers accepted an offer in the region of £8m.

Spurs came back with improved personal terms in a bid to lure the attack-minded defender down south.

However, Hutton, who signed a five-year deal in July, remains committed to the SPL leaders.

Spurs manager Juande Ramos is keen to add to his squad at White Hart Lane but the Spaniard will now look elsewhere for a new right-back.

Good news for us. He will be a major player for us in the seasons run-in.
