Default Boro close in on Brown transfer

Quote:
Premiership club Middlesbrough have confirmed they are holding talks with Hibernian over midfielder Scott Brown.
Middlesbrough chief executive Keith Lamb told BBC Scotland discussions were being held, but stressed no fee had been agreed between the two clubs.

Lamb said further talks were planned when Hibs had completed their season.

Brown, 21, has been attracting interest from a host of clubs north and south of the border, including Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers.

The Scotland international had a transfer request rejected by Hibs in December, but Hibs boss John Collins indicated he expected Brown to leave in the summer.

Premiership side Charlton had a £3m bid for Brown and Kevin Thomson rejected earlier this season.

Thomson eventually sealed a £2m switch to Rangers and he urged Brown to join him at Ibrox.

Southgate really rates him. He's watched him a number of times. Don't think he'll be a starter though.

I can see the draw of playing on the Premiership is a major selling point. But would this be the right move for Brown?

lol posted this earlier.

It could be a good move. Southgate seems to really rate him but McFadden is far more talented but is not a regular.

nah he shouldnt go to the prem right now because i think he might jus get benched and wrot away and that would be a waste of real talent and i dont want that ti happen.

i think he should move to rangers or celtic for 3 years until he matures into a better footballer and with european experience and international then he would be ready for the prem.

Brown agrees Celtic move

Quote:
Skysports.com can confirm Scott Brown has agreed a move Celtic.

Celtic have held talks with the Scottish international over the last few days after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Hibernian.

Hibs were resigned to losing Brown with a number of top clubs north and south of the border chasing the exciting 21-year-old.

Brown's agent Willie McKay confirmed a deal had been agreed, with the player inking a five-year deal at Parkhead.

Celtic are thought to have beaten a host to clubs to Brown's signature with the midfielder relishing the opportunity of playing for the Scottish champions.

"A deal has been done and dusted (with Celtic)," McKay told skysports.com.

"It is a five-year deal and Scott is very pleased with the move.

"He is delighted to be joining such a big club as Celtic and to have the opportunity of playing in the Champions League."

I wonder if he'll play? If he was a smart boy he would have looked at Riordan (who is much more talented) and seen what it has done to his career.

He's moved for the money though. Not first team football.

Another few million down the shite-hole, for a team challenging for top 16/8 in the Champs league its a pathetic buy.

All the big teams must be shaking in there boots at the thought of having to come up against Brown.

He will probably be given a chance to stake his claim to be a regular starter (especially with Lennon away)

Im surprised he chose Celtic, i expected him to go to England.

if scott brown is worth 4.4 million, then naisys worth at least 6, figures are all wrong on this one, brown is worth 1 maybe 1.5 at the most, cant see him being anything amazing for Celtic although he is a decent player

I think if Brown works hard at his game, he can achieve things and go on to play in England. But it all depends on how things work out for him at Celtic. If he finds himself on the bench a lot then that will effect him.

As for his value, Hibs value him at that price because he is thier prize asset, i think its a lot to pay for a player who looks a good prospect but has really still to prove himself properly.
