TalkSoccer Forum Rules

1. Respect
The TalkSoccer community is global in the sense that we embrace all nationalities and races. We have members from pretty much every location on the planet and as we're this diversified from scratch we are all bound to have different views on these fundamental issues. Be tasteful about your posts and replies. Remember NO violent, political, religious, racist or vile posts will be tolerated, neither will personal attacks of any nature. Such behavior has nothing to do with supporting a football team. Respect your fellow members and they will respect you!

The Internet offers countless possibilities if you have particular interest in discussing these very emotional subjects, and management is adamant that we won't let arcane grudges nor current political/religious fights destroy the normally friendly atmosphere we have here. We are not a "thought police" nor do we try to be dictators, deleting and banning people left and right because they hold certain sympathies, but we kindly ask you to consider the effect your comments can have on others. Put yourself in the position of the recipient before pressing submit.

2. Etiquette
Your opinion is exactly that, it's yours! This ought to be logical, but it seems it's not. We are all experts on our own opinion but apart from debating the merits of an issue and trying to promote and communicate your view on this or that you can't do anymore. No one's opinion is more correct than anyone else's. This community was created as a place to discuss and debate. All members have a right to voice their opinions. It is possible to disagree without being disagreeable.

3. Friendly Rivalry
When entering discussions or starting topics away from your respective home forum/forums, remember that you are in one way a "guest". Dialogue and discussion is what this is all about, so everyone can be critical, but remember that you will be likely to get the stick if you forget to show a bit of respect. If you actually want a discussion- would like to get an answer to an inquiry (etc. etc.) it's a lot more positive to be polite and friendly.

Football has it's classic rivalries and they tend to rub off on the supporters, but you do not have to lose a sense of civility and cordiality just because X person 1000's of kilometers away support another team than you do. That's foolish, and as the management will always strive to minimize outright provocation for the sake of provoking only your stay could be short lived if you don't remember to show this basic respect.

After staying a while - we hope that you will see the logic of this, as it's a lot more fun and giving making friends and debating issues in a good humored fashion than making enemies and talking smack.

4. Authority
Moderators are there to ensure the forums are staying within the community atmosphere and should be treated with respect.

Any disputes should be dealt with via PM's. If outside assistance is required, contact an Administrator for help with the resolution. Administrators have the last say. Period.

5. Signatures & Avatars
Signatures and Avatars (provided by the site or your own) are allowed as a way to personalize your presence in the community.

The official size limit for signature images is 500 width x 200 height. There is also one image per signature limit.

All rules apply to these areas just as they do to your messages. Keep the community fun and don't abuse the personal touches that have been built in for you!

6. Advertising & Spamming
We will not tolerate any form of advertising without prior approval of at least one Administrator. We have to pay our bills and if we allow advertising for free it follows that no one would want to pay for the same privileges.

7. Topic in the appropriate forum
When creating a new topic, please take care to create your topic in the appropriate forum. Sometimes a topic might logically be located in two or even three different places. Choose the one forum that you think most closely fits your topic. Never create a topic in more than one forum! Instead, place a short post in the second one and refer to the first via a link.

If you create a new topic in a forum that is not the best choice, your topic may be moved to a better suited forum. However, this should only occur when your topic has obviously been misplaced. In most cases, you should see your topic in its previous forum with the word "Moved: " in front of it. Simply click on the topic name and you will be in the new forum.

8. Problem Posts
If you as a member of these forums notice a post that is in poor taste, or a member who is willfully bending or breaking our simple rules, you should report it. You may use the Report this Post feature, and/or you may PM the moderator of the forum where you saw the problem.

9. Banned or Barred
Members who fail to follow the above rules and continue to be uncooperative and disrespectful will be barred or banned. A Bar is short term, you will have limited access to the board over the period of your barring i.e. no posting rights. A Ban is permanent, you will have no access to the forums.
