"The Sports Authority and the city are committed to doing everything to keep
the team here. The team is an important part of the city."
-- Dean Munro of the San Jose Sports Authority on the San Jose Earthquakes,
whose investor-operator, AEG, has said it is considering moving the team out
of Spartan Stadium and whose officials are set to meet with officials from
nearby Santa Clara. (San Jose Mercury News)

"These numbers would not work."
-- Kevin Moore of the Santa Clara Stadium Association on AEG's preliminary

With the development of new soccer-only stadiums, expanded national television exposure and increased fan and corporate sponsor support, coupled with this area's cultural diversity and long-standing interest in soccer, we expect a very bright future for this team," Wolff said in a statement.
Wolff, a property developer, said the Earthquakes would play home games at temporary venues for their first two seasons while the owners seek approval from San Jose City Council to build a soccer stadium near Mineta San Jose International Airport.
As planned, the stadium would open in 2010, have seating capacity for 18,000 to 20,000 fans and modern amenities.

This Info is From the Guardian Unlimited.

I don't know how the rotating home stadium is going to work, that seems like it will be a hassle for the players big time. If I was a fan in the area outside of SJ would I really want to get all jacked up for the one or two home games I would get for that season? Seems to me like its shortsighted.

If they build them a stadium..its pretty much ensures that they or another soccer team will always be apart of MLS
