Roma fly out for Baptista Wednesday 6 August, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roma are hours away from completing their £8m swoop for Julio Baptista after directors flew out to Madrid.
The Brazilian has been linked with the club for several weeks now, but a deal had always been just beyond their capabilities.
The breakthrough comes with Marca reporting that director of sport Daniele Pradé has flown to Madrid for a final meeting with his Real counterpart Predrag Mijatovic.
He should have been in Cairo with the rest of the squad for tonight’s friendly match with Al-Ahly.
Baptista has demanded a transfer, opening the door to an £8m switch to the Giallorossi.
“Julio is not happy with the situation at Real Madrid, especially as he doesn’t want to stay on the bench anymore,” revealed agent Herminio Menendez.
“Baptista wants to work for a club where he can play. He certainly wouldn’t go to just any old side.
“Roma are a great squad and he’d be very happy to join them, but they are the ones who have to reach an agreement with Real first.”
Real signed 'The Beast' from Sevilla for £16m three years ago and were eager to sell him for no less than £10m.
Roma had offered at most £7.5m and it seems the deal will be struck at a balance of £8m.

I don't believe it yet either...CH4 has lost a lot of credibility this summer. Too many foolish contradictory articles.
I thought Roma offered £12m for him...and was rejected? Now they "agree" on £8m..........................i dunno.

Well Real Madrid just recently paid 13 mill for VDV and Baptista is certainly worth less imo.
Ill accept him since he is an upgrade and Vucinic on the left or striker is fine.we need 1 more player if its true.

Roma plot double swoop Friday 8 August, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roma continue to negotiate for Julio Baptista and the capital club could use their trip to London this weekend to broker a deal for Florent Malouda.
Last season’s Serie A runners-up are looking to strengthen their squad by adding a striker and a midfielder before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.
Having missed out on Adrian Mutu, Roma have turned their attentions to Brazilian forward Julio Baptista, who is unsettled at Real Madrid.
Reports suggest that the Eternal City outfit are close to agreeing a fee with the Merengues and an agreement could be reached over the weekend.
“In the next few days we will be in Italy to discuss the question of Baptista’s transfer to Roma,” one of the star’s representatives Juan Figer revealed.
Roma play Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday and it has been suggested that the Lupi may take advantage of being in England to discuss the future of Chelsea midfielder Malouda.
Sporting director Daniele Pradè will travel to London with the squad on Saturday and is due to meet Blues director general Peter Kenyon.
Malouda has made it clear that he is open to the move, but Chelsea may not let the French international leave unless they succeed in luring Robinho from Real Madrid.
Although Roman Abramovich has reportedly tabled a £20m bid for Robinho, the Brazilian star may not be allowed to leave the Bernabeu after the Spanish giants missed out on Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo

Lets sign Baptista + Malouda....then we will be in decent shape.
There's still some links to Huntelaar as well.

At this point I think we'd all be happy with Baptista and Malouda.A frenchman to keep Mexes happy and another Brazlian to fill in for Mancini leaving...To think Doni is the most experienced Brazilian on our team..... CRAZY.
or you know...we could go after Huntelaar and Rosina...JUST A THOUGHT!....a passing thought....now i just made myself feel worse.

I think:
Huntelaar + Baptista + Malouda + Rosina = Roma bankrupt.

Actually, it's........
Roma MINUS Huntelaar + Baptista + Malouda + Rosina = bankrupt.
The owners are already 300m in debt due to their other company.
Had Rosella not blocked the sale to Soros, Roma would of had a top striker right now. Soros was literally 24 hours from owning Roma...all the details were agreed and the day he was going to sign the papers...the fake Arab bid came in skyrocketing the stocks.

Baptista too costly for Roma Saturday 9 August, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roma’s negotiations for Julio Baptista have hit problems with Real Madrid and the Brazilian, both based on money.
The Brazilian’s agent has declared he is open to a move to the Olimpico after the arrival of Rafael Van Der Vaart placed him lower down the pecking order.
The Giallorossi are in talks with Real, but the difference between demand and offer remains far too great.
Although the Merengues have reduced the price-tag from £11m to £9m, it is still beyond Roma’s bid of £7m.
On top of that issue, Baptista has reportedly also made it clear he is unsatisfied with the wage and contract terms put forward by Roma.
His agent is expected in Rome over the next few days to continue negotiations, but with Newcastle showing an interest, Luciano Spalletti could miss out on his target.
|
hmm as i expected when i first posted about his so called "open to a move".seems he still has some arrogance in him after being ditched and still is making ludicrous demands.well lets see if there are other clubs who can make him wealth wth his current stat on the player ladder.
better focus all the money on menez if u ask me.we were readily and willingly like a drunk nincompoop to offer freaking £18m for an old guy but still thinking way deep for a proven talent.

Honestly it would cost about 11 mill for Rosina. He would solve all sorts of problems. After getting him we shift Vucinic as striker and when totti heals up well we play a 4-3-1-2 with Rosina behind Totti and Vucinic or Totti and Rosina interchange roles like Cassano and Totti use to do taking turns bringing up the ball.Eventually Perrotta will be dropped.the man wastes too many chances and with a 3 man central midfield I think we have enough cover.
Ofcourse this wont happen but damn we can do so much better then 2 players who are on the bench for their clubs.

Guys...don't bother with CH4 articles...Roma have raised their offer to approx 10m and an additional 2m if Roma make CL.
Check goal or ilromanista.
