Fiorentina have restated that Adrian Mutu won’t be joining Roma and Coach Cesare Prandelli has praised the club for turning down a sizeable offer.

Mutu has become a crucial figure for the Tuscans and is the main source of goals for the Viola.

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has given up hope of signing Fiorentina ace Adrian Mutu and could turn his attentions to Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The Giallorossi had high hopes of luring Romanian star Mutu away from Tuscany, but they saw a £16m bid rejected.

In the face of Fiorentina’s determination to keep the former Chelsea man, it seems that the Eternal City giants will have to look elsewhere for their much-needed striking addition.

“I think the Mutu negotiations are over,” Spalletti admitted to Tuttomercatoweb.

“The club can’t be blamed if he doesn’t come but it does look like we will have to look elsewhere. But we will stay calm and consider things carefully.

“We are looking for two players because the squad isn’t complete as it is.

“I haven’t even spoken about Julio Baptista. He is a good player but we are fine in midfield.

“Huntelaar is a very good player but we will have to see and there will be no panic buys.”

now thats a name i am willing to see our club pay £16m, compared to mutu he is a star, way bigger imo.but can we lure him, i think we can since suddenly huntelaar's rumors wth other clubs have died down.

i guess baptist is no go either, well maybe mouluda is still in the radar.
