But what I meant was that Its not really the team that matters but the player in the end.He was a LW or Left Wing Forward at Juve and really didnt play up to his potential.Sure there were some nice moments but really wasnt the level of what we're use to seeing of Mutu in Parma and in Chelsea. Now at Fiorentina he is back and living it up as a Striker.Something I think he desperately needed. He needs to play as a striker.Like Vucinic .

Idk you dont think they will play vucinic on the wing, and put mutu in front of totti?
We want mutu because hes hot right now...where the younger players are still learning, we need someone right now who can win us a scudetto and win us CL...if we pay 16m for mutu and he wins us a title or CL we get alot of money back for that, not to mention it would draw other good players here...and even if he can only play up front for 3 or 4 years thats fine, we can sell him then for like 8 mil and then technically we only spent 8 mil on him...and then those younger strikers will be ready to move to roma and start...
If there is one thing ive learned from living in detroit and being a wings fan, is dont be afraid to bring in the older player, if you have a younger core...we have a decent young core, and young players will continue to come up through our ranks and from other teams...but sometimes a HOT vetran is a good thing and can win you a championship!

Bobo its not that they want to sell the good players, its that once they get so good they want more money and they cant afford to pay them....plus they are usually a mid table team, and no star player wants to spend his career especially in his prime at a mid table team who has no chance because of low talent or low finances to win a scudetto

Roma confirm Mutu bid
Wednesday 23 July, 2008
Roma confirm they have made an offer for Fiorentina’s Adrian Mutu and Giallorossi new boy John Arne Riise hopes the Romanian is on his way.
Fiorentina announced yesterday that the capital club had tabled a bid for their Romanian ace and it is believed to amount to around £16m.
While Roma haven’t confirmed the figure on the table, they have admitted to making an offer.
“With reference to the news printed yesterday, Roma would like to confirm that they have made an offer for the full rights to Mutu,” a statement reads.
"We are waiting to hear Fiorentina’s decision and reserve the right to release any further details when we choose.”
Mutu is expected to hold decisive talks with the club’s owners later this afternoon after attending Viola training today.
Meanwhile, Mutu fever is sweeping Rome and Norwegian international Riise, who signed from Liverpool earlier in the summer, is hoping the deal is done.
“I don’t know whether what is said in the newspapers is true,” he said. “But I think that Mutu is a fantastic player and any squad would like to have him.”

every one is confirming something this summer but none has been official wth us

believe me even if we get mutu, its still not enough.juve didnt win so much in a night wth just a single or 2 big names so is inter.it takes more then that.but if we take that right step at the right direction we will get there.wth mutu we are just beginning to close the holes but still yet to solve the problem.
as sinoy pointed if he comes here and plays in a winger position then its big waste.he is most suited up front.we can play totti behind him as supplier and add some down the flanks.besides his price is still way too much.next year he will be 30 and thats not an ideal age grp to be working wth the ones in their 30s that we alredy have.
the young players mentioned have more then enough experience and are in the prime age group.the only thing they lack is the ppl around them i.e the team that supports them.wth us they have some of the best in the league and wth the challenges we give them at roma they can excel.
seriusly im still am startled by the amount, how i wish if we had shown the same determination few seasons back to sign pazzini instead.wth the right bait we can lure him and the money spent on him even if its high will be worth while.

While Adrian Mutu’s move to Roma gains a sense of inevitability, rumours suggest Adriano will be the big name replacement at Fiorentina.
The Romanian could complete his £16m transfer as early as this evening, only 24 hours after the Giallorossi made an official bid.
“Mutu will certainly go to Roma,” agent and transfer expert Claudio Pasqualin told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“As far as I can tell, the deal is already in place and everything will be made official very soon, at the most tomorrow.”
The Viola supporters are staging protests outside the pre-season training ground where Mutu took part in the session today and some have threatened not to renew their season tickets if the move goes through.
The club needs to find a replacement that can fire up the crowd as well as keep Coach Cesare Prandelli happy he has a competitive squad.
While Alessandro Rosina, Antonio Di Natale and Ibrahim Afellay have been mentioned, a new rumour claims Adriano is the man for the job.
The Brazilian would come to Florence on loan from Inter with the option to buy at the end of the season for £11m.
It would be his second spell in the Viola jersey, as Adriano already scored six goals in 15 Serie A appearances during a six-month loan in 2001.
He then revitalised his career under Prandelli’s tutelage at Parma for two seasons, but personal problems saw him struggle at Inter and he has spent the last six months with Brazilian club San Paolo.

From CH4
Well that is great news...i for one think this is a great signing if it happens...if we get him..weve got our biggest missing puzzle piece...and if we get a few more before the season we will be in good contention for the scudetto...with mutu on our side i would feel confidents that we would make CL and push for the scudetto too

Official: Viola reject Mutu offer
Wednesday 23 July, 2008
Roma’s £16m offer for Adrian Mutu has been sensationally rejected, as the club declared "he is and remains a Fiorentina player."
The Romanian had been expected to complete his move to the Stadio Olimpico by the end of the day and fans were anxiously awaiting the official confirmation.
Instead, the club released a statement blocking any attempt to swoop for the former Chelsea, Juventus and Parma hitman.
“ACF Fiorentina President Andrea Della Valle, with reference to Roma’s offer, lets it be known that Mutu is and remains a Fiorentina player.”
The change in tune came directly from brothers Andrea and Diego Della Valle, who own Fiorentina.
According to the latest reports, they took action to call off the move and force Mutu to respect the contract he renewed only recently.
It is possibly turning into the same situation that befell Luca Toni, who was prevented from joining Inter in the summer of 2006 on the agreement he could leave for an overseas club a year later.
Roma are not expected to give up on their primary transfer target, though.
“We have had intense negotiations for Mutu and will continue to do so until the transfer window closes,” said technical director Bruno Conti.

No actually he was less then stellar.Id rather have him upfront like Vucinic then play him out left where he is not as good.
Juve fans were up in arms when he was playing as a LW.As a striker it was a different thing.

No one is saying he plays better on the wing, but the fact is that he did a very good job for us there and even chipped in with his fair share of goals.
In fact the only reason why most Juve fans didn't make a fuss about him leaving was because we got Bojinov in the deal...

I didn't say La Viola wanted to sell them...but they should have kept atleast a few to help them build their name up again.
Fiorentina was once a major major force in football, but after their financial difficulties things went down.
I'm saying that now Fiorentina are trying to get back to their highest status, and are doing a good job at that...but they could have used the services of these players above for a while longer...

I disagree...
Other than Baggio the majority of the players you mentioned were sold at the right time in my opinion.
Batistuta and Rui Costa were both past their prime and didn't play as well once they'd moved. And in terms of getting the best possibly price for Toni they did well to sell him when they did.
