Juve keeping an eye on Loria as well...
Quote:
However, Siena sporting director Manuel Gerolin has revealed that Juve are now hoping to hijack the deal, even if Roma still remain favourites.
“At the moment we are looking to complete a move to Roma because the player really wants to go there,” Gerolin told Laromasiamonoi.it.
“However, there has been an approach from Juventus and we are also on excellent terms with them.
“Soon we will meet with Roma officials to see if we can agree something. These things take some time because there are details to be sorted out.”

Julio Baptista flirts with Roma
Friday 27 June, 2008
Brazilian midfield star Julio Baptista has voiced his admiration for Roma, prompting suggestions he could join the Giallorossi.
The man nicknamed ‘The Beast’ is currently plying his trade at Real Madrid, but hasn’t been able to hold down a starting place at the Bernabeu recently.
And the former Sevilla man has set the rumour mill in motion by praising Roma’s brand of football.
“Roma are a great club and they play really good football,” Julio Baptista told Il Romanista.
“I don’t know anything regarding transfers at the moment - I am in Brazil on holiday.
“At the moment I think that I will be staying in Madrid, but anything is possible in my future.”
Roma were linked with Baptista last summer but, after weeks of rumours and speculation, no concrete offer was ever tabled.

There's a chance that he may be loaned to Roma.

yeah they will loan us him then when he is quite settled wth us and we wth him they will play the game on us.
cough the price or cough up the likes of de rossi or aquilani.if its other clubs i woudnt mind a loan venture for players but wth our club it could crazy just as how we lost chivu on the cheap(not from loans but co-ownerships wch in a way quite similar)
if we really have good firm interest in him buy him out right it would be a good investment rather then loans or co-ownerships.

Mutu Set For Roma?
Adrian Mutu has agreed to join Roma according to Il Tempo. The Romanian international was set to sign a new contract with Fiorentina but it seems as if he has changed his mind and will be joining Luciano Spalletti in his quest for Scudetto glory next season...

That Mutu link was from a couple days ago...Fiorentina came out and shot it down immediately. I wish it was true...but, unfortunately it's not.
Fiorentina came out and said this after the rumour...

"Mutu e Frey restano con noi"

Now, Goal has this article...this happened with Suazo until Milan and Inter got involved. Roma had a deal with Suazo, then he rejected Roma/Milan for Inter.
Quote:
Mutu has demanded the club give him what he is asking for in terms of his salary.
The player wants a dramatic increase on his current deal and he did threat that he would leave if Fiorentina didn’t succumb to his demands.
The Viola have been on tenter hooks waiting for Mutu to decide on his future and now, according to Il Tempo, they have an answer, but it’s not the one they were hoping for.
Alessandro Moggi (Mutu’s Agent) has met with Roma transfer chief Daniele Prade and they have already struck a deal which will see the striker swap the Artemio Franchi for the Stadio Olimpico.
Moggi is now trying to convince Fiorentina to part compant with the player but it may prove difficult as Andrea Della Valle, who owns the club, will not let the player leave for less than €25m.
Roma are currently searching for a striker and they have benn linked with Klass Jan Huntelaar of Ajax and Julio Baptista from Real Madrid.
If they fail to land either striker then Mutu will have a great chance of joining the Giallorossi as his future with Fiorentina hangs in the balance.
The striker wants a better deal by hook or by crook but La Viola will not push the boat out in order to keep him happy.

They received just under 30m from Uefa...so maybe they are willing to spend it all??? Probably not though. But, keeping my fingers crossed anyways.
Mutu would look very good in Roma colours.

Here's another rumour...
Quote:
Roma are keeping a special eye on tonight’s Euro 2008 Final after preparing a £12m bid for Spain striker Daniel Guiza.
Although he has only been used as a substitute in the tournament so far, Guiza has made quite an impression after scoring two splendid goals.
According to Spanish newspaper As, Roma are diving into the race to sign the Real Mallorca hitman.
They have a fair amount of competition, as Manchester City, Tottenham and Barcelona have all been linked.
Turkish outfit Fenerbahce are currently leading the race and have reportedly agreed to pay the £12m buy-out clause in his contract.
However, Guiza would prefer a bigger League and is eyeing Roma’s Scudetto and Champions League challenge.
The striker turns 28 in August and was Pichichi in La Liga in 2007-08 with 27 goals, none of which were penalties.

Yeah, it's just a case of whether you'd want to spend it all on one player (or most of it anyway).

The top striker out there is Huntelaar...if i had to break the bank, i would go after him. He's younger then Mutu and can remain at a top level for years. But, it will likely cost 25m for him. If Roma can't sign hum or Mutu...i would be happy with Gomez as well.
