Obinna seeks big club
Wednesday 4 June, 2008
The agent of Chievo striking sensation Victor Obinna doesn’t expect the Nigerian ace to stay with the Flying Donkeys into Serie A.
The Veronese minnows are back in the top flight, but having stayed put during their season in the Cadetti, Obinna is ready to move on.
“I think that Obinna’s future lies away from Verona and Chievo,” Gaetano Paolillo said to Tuttomercatoweb.
“There is lots of interest in him. The player wants to stay in Italy and will look at all his options.
“The teams that have been watching him are the same ones as ever – Roma, Fiorentina, Palermo and Genoa.”
Obinna hit the net eight times last season, in a campaign of ups and downs, including a serious car crash in October.

what you guys think about him??ive only seen a few games of the serie B' so any opinion on
if we are on the move for iaquinta it will be expensive i reckon unless juve are doing a "chivu" on us.but it wont that bad cos for sure they will want mancini it will be a prob if they go to other names wch im a bit concerned.

I think Roma were linked with Obinna a couple years ago...he's a good player, but i don't see him in a Roma jersey.

Obinna is a phenomenal athlete but he's never been prolific in front of goal, that's his problem.

Roma need an established striker...someone to play in front of Totti or beside him. Obinna isn't that person...at least not yet.

i want iaquinta pretty bad..i wanted him last season and i think he would be a good addition to the team next to totti, or in front of him...plus if totti is out then weve got vucinic and vincenzo two decent strikers who can play together.
Get rid of mancini..im not a fan....and if guily wants to go...good ridance...we need someone taller then 5'6 to put headers in the goal

Lisandro's agent has denied any possibilities of a move this summer anyway, so it won't happen.

That's always the problem with Fiorentina, their wage structure.
I don't think he's quite what you need anyway.

I dont understand how roma are one of the major football powerhouses in the world but they never seem to have the money to pull any huge players in.. I dont get it.
We have been in contention for the scudetto for years, and won the italian cup, and been in CL but we cant attract big names. I dont get it...it would be like the yankees not being able to pull in big players.

Because the damn Sensi's are 300m in debt...if they would sell the damn club already...Roma would be able to sign players and actually pay them more then 1.7m a season.
The day Roma gets sold, is the day they will actually be linked with big transfers.
Roma have to be sold soon...i don't think the bank is giving them anymore chances to pay off their debt.

Even though I don't quite agree with your statement that Roma are one of the 'major football powerhouses in the world' the answer to your question is simple - they're Italian.
If you look back 10 years ago Serie A was where all the money was and most of the big Italian clubs took advantage of this and spent big. But over the last few years we've suffered something of a financial meltdown and now the majority of the big spending teams are English. Even Inter, the so called Italian Champions, haven't spent that much over the last few years (at least compared to what they used to).
These things work in cycles though, it won't be like this forever.
