Totti issues new quit threat
Francesco Totti admits he will consider his Roma future after he was insulted by his own fans.

The incident occurred during the Coppa Italia match against Siena last night, after Giallorossi fans hurled flares on the pitch – causing the game to be suspended for over an hour due to poor visibility.

The situation got so bad that the capital captain approached the supporters and pleaded with them to behave.

"I went to the Curva to tell them not to ignite any more fireworks, and my own fans insulted me and threw bottles," he told Roma Channel. "I don’t understand why and I don’t think I deserve it."

The star player’s contract expires in 2006 and he has already been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Milan and Inter.

"I feel really humiliated," the No 10 continued. "I’m going to have to weigh up the situation at the end of the season because this is too great a blow to just brush aside."

Totti had previously already warned President Franco Sensi that he would leave the club unless Roma remain a competitive force.

I think he could really leave now. He has grounds to.

Sono legato alla Città, alla gente, a tutti: è una scelta assolutamente dolorosa, ma andava fatta perchè ho voglia di dimostrare in questa nuova avventura che posso ancora far bene e a 31 anni e con il contratto in scadenza volevo rimettermi in gioco.

Saluto il Presidente, la Società, i compagni, lo staff, i magazzinieri, gli addetti stampa, voi giornalisti, tutti; porterò nel cuore con me sempre un ricordo meraviglioso di questa squadra e questa città. Ho avuto un bellissimo rapporto con tutti e per me il bilancio di questi 10 anni è nettamente positivo. Ringrazio in particolar modo il Presidente Sensi, senza il quale questi 10 anni non sarebbero stati possibili.

Ringrazio i tifosi per l'affetto; nelle storie d'amore c'è sempre qualche screzio, ma voglio credere di aver lasciato un buon ricordo, e quando tornerò all'Olimpico mi piacerebbe ricevere calore dalla gente, come d'altronde è sempre stato. Quando smetterò di giocare il mio futuro sarà comunque a Roma.

I'll really miss Marco, he was super and always gave 100% he was a great player and a nice guy. Fantastic in the derby (no-one has scored more).

Never really held him in high regard, but to have been at Roma for that long is a testament to his ability. Wish him all the best.

Vincent Candela has waved goodbye to Roma after he terminated his contract with the outfit today.

"I’m leaving a fundamental part of my life even if I will return to live here when I retire," said the Frenchman.

"I’ve experienced some unforgettable years in which I have matured both as a man and a footballer.

"My son was born here, I won Lo Scudetto in 2001 and I was able to enjoy a great relationship with the fans."

The left-sided player, who has spent eight years with the capital club, insists he has no Giallorossi regrets.

"I wouldn’t do anything differently," he added. "I would have liked to have offered more over the last 18 months but I am responsible for that."

Candela also specifically thanked former Roma bosses Zdenek Zeman and Fabio Capello for their help.

"The Czech taught me a lot tactically, while Capello brought the best out of me just when I was about to join Inter," continued the defender.

The former France international will now sign for Premiership outfit Bolton. "I had other offers, including the chance to stay in Italy but I preferred a foreign move," he added.

Candela is the fifth January sale after Mido (Spurs), Marco Delvecchio (Brescia), Gigi Sartor (Genoa) and Gaetano D’Agostino (Messina) also left Roma this month.

You had to love Vincent, he was amazing in that season where we won and the following season.
He'll be missed by all, (especially Totti).
