Roma leap for Luis Fabiano
Quote:
Roma leap for Luis Fabiano Saturday 22 March, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roma are staging an audacious bid for Liga top scorer Luis Fabiano, who could be snapped up for just £8.7m.
The Brazilian has been on spectacular form for Sevilla this season and has already netted 22 goals, 28 including Cup competitions.
Also the first choice centre-forward for the Selecao, he was signed from Porto in 2005 for less than £2m.
His price-tag has naturally rocketed since then, but the Gazzetta dello Sport claims there is a clause in his contract that could release him this summer for just £8.7m.
The money to pay for Luis Fabiano would come from the sale of Amantino Mancini, but it would also force a change of tactics.
He is a pure centre-forward, so Francesco Totti would by necessity be removed from that role and put further back into the Roma system.
It is possible they could keep the 4-2-3-1 with Totti in a deeper role behind the striker.

some good stuff in there, so any one have any more info on him?? the price seems to be a good one.and about the tactics, great team and great players dont always follow the same path but create new ones.that can be said on roma's system and totti.so it wont be a problem if he does join us.

Roma interested in Lisandro
Italian newspapers suggest that the capital club have been monitoring the progress of the Argentine international, who has been showing the form that led to his transfer from Racing Club in 2005 after he initially struggled to cope with the Portuguese game.
The 25-year-old is the current leader of the BWINLIGA in the goal-scoring stakes, having netted 19 goals in 22 appearances for the Dragons this season.
With Real Madrid reportedly interested in Roma's Montenegrin striker Mirko Vucinic, López seems to be high on the Italian club's replacement shortlist for the front area of the team.
AS Roma are also rumoured to be interested in signing Porto midfielders Ricardo Quaresma and Lucho González, but the Portuguese club seem keen on keeping all of these three figures, who are under a contract until 2011.

Mancini will be the main target for clubs this summer...Juve are reportedly willing to offer Iaquinta for Mancini. It's evident that Mancini is not going to re-sign a contract...so time for Roma to cash in!!

Roma coach Spalletti welcomes Juventus offer for Mancini
tribalfootball.com - April 18, 2008
Juventus have opened swap talks with Roma for contract rebel Amantino Mancini.
Corriere dello Sport says Juve have already begun negotiations with Roma for the Brazilian winger, who rejected a new contract offer from the Giallorossi earlier this week.
Juve are willing to offer cash plus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta for Mancini - and Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is eager to see the deal done. Spalletti would love to be reunited with former Udinese centre-forward Iaquinta and also plans to use the extra cash raised to land Toulouse fullback Jeremy Mathieu.

Iaquinta has 8 goals....and they are mostly from a substitute appearance in games. Taddie only has 6 goals this season and he's a regular starter for Roma. I wouldn't mind Roma sending Taddei on his way as well as Mancini.

Taddie plays on the wing while Iaquinta is a striker. The only reason why Taddie plays is for his tracking back abilities.Especially since Cicinho is in the squad now.
Iaquinta is not a RW.But a Center Forward.Vucinic has been better then Mancini on the left so I wouldnt mind Iaquinta in the starting line up as the top man while Totti is out.

Vucinic is a striker as well and has adapted to life as a winger/striker. Iaquinta could also play in a similar role as well.

we send mancini but keep taddei, yeah his not that of a winger but he is way far valuable between mancini.thats my only reason for keeping taddei.
wth iaquinta at least we can be assured of striker in the absences of totti, while also at the same time we can put vucinic to good use in his wing position wch he has been really good.

I think Juve as well...his agent probably wants to include other teams so Juve bite the bullet and give them the figure they are asking for...just politics, but that's why sports agents can be very wealthy individuals.

tribalfooball.com - May 01, 2008
Roma midfielder Mauro Esposito admits he has ambitions of joining Napoli.
"Naples is the city of my heart, I've always been a fan of the Azzurri since I was a child, Diego Maradona was my idol and I saw all the Napoli games. I have always hoped to wear the jersey but, we must wait until the end of the season," said Esposito.
