Richarlyson ignores Roma gaze Friday 16 November, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sao Paulo midfield ace Richarlyson has rejected interest from Roma by insisting that he wants to stay at the Morumbi.

Giallorossi scouts had reportedly been following the 24-year-old’s progress over the last few months with an eye to a January bid.

Richarlyson had been expected to leave Brazil for Europe at the end of the season, but now he is happy to stay put for another 18 months.

“I want to stay until the end of 2008 and try and win the Copa Libertadores and Club World Cup,” he told Radio Bandeirantes.

Several top European sides will be disappointed by his declaration, but Roma had emerged as favourites for his signature partly due to their strong Brazilian contingent.

Agent: Roma won’t capture Beast Friday 23 November, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spanish Press reports suggest that Roma are chasing Real Madrid outcast Julio Baptista, but the player’s agent claims rumours are unfounded.

According to Marca, the Giallorossi are trying to sign the Brazilian international on loan in January with an option to make the move permanent.

The man nicknamed ‘The Beast’ has fallen out of first-team plans at the Bernabeu and is looking for a fresh challenge after returning from a spell at Arsenal last term, but a move to Rome looks unlikely.

“There has been no contact with Roma. Nobody has discussed this situation with me,” Ernesto Bronzetti claimed on Rete Sport.

“It is true, however, that he’s not playing that much so we are looking at an alternative from Real.

“But I spoke to Daniele Prade’ and we were both surprised to see it in the newspapers. There have been no talks between Roma and Real Madrid for Julio Baptista."

It seems that the transfer fee would rule Roma out of the running for the Selecao star.

“The player is very valuable as this summer Real refused £10m from Milan,” Bronzetti concluded.

“Furthermore, Baptista has a £2m contract, which is more than Roma can afford. This rumour has no basis in truth.”

Lucarelli likes Roma option Wednesday 19 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma could be a January destination for Cristiano Lucarelli after Torino denied any interest in the Shakhtar Donetsk player.

The Italian international is expected to quit the Ukrainian giants in the New Year following their Champions League exit and a host of Italian clubs have been associated with his services.

Roma are the latest outfit to be linked and agent Carlo Pallavicino has insisted that his client would be interested in a capital switch.

“Lucarelli wouldn’t have any problem in joining Roma, especially as Shakhtar are prepared to hand him over on a loan basis,” Pallavicino noted.

“I also don’t think that his salary would be a problem either and this could be the right time for the club and himself.

“Although there has been no contact with Roma so far, the Giallorossi would be a great opportunity for Lucarelli.”

Roma, who have been struggling for goals without the injured Francesco Totti recently, wouldn’t be ale to play him in Europe though.

Meanwhile, Torino have distanced themselves from reports that Lucarelli could join the Granata for the second time in his career.

“It’s not true that we are close to signing him,” said Toro patron Urbano Cairo. “The stories are pure journalistic inventions.

“Cristiano did very well during his time at Livorno, but there is nothing at this stage which are linking us.

“We have players in our squad such as David Di Michele who needs time to reach the peak of his condition.

“Before signing players of quality like Lucarelli, we need to wait and see what our players are capable of when fully fit.”

Lucarelli, who left Livorno in the summer, has also been associated with struggling Genoa and wants to be a part of Italy’s Euro 2008 campaign.

hmm not sure about another mid aged player in the team.

Yes, just what the need.

I rate Vucinic but Lucarelli plays better as a lone striker than he does.

Roma protect prize duo Thursday 20 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma patron Rosella Sensi hopes Daniele De Rossi and Alberto Aquilani opt to stay with the Giallorossi, but Amantino Mancini’s future is unclear.

De Rossi and Aquilani are a crucial midfield duo for the capital club and are both members of the Azzurri set-up.

In recent weeks, Aquilani has been linked with Inter and it is believed that Real Madrid and Milan are tracking De Rossi.

“As far as the club is concerned, they are not for sale,” Sensi stressed. “But we do need to consider the players’ wishes

“We have no problem with negotiating offers for them, but only if they want to leave.

“At the moment I can confirm that Inter haven’t made any offer for Aquilani.”

Brazilian forward Mancini is known to be unsettled in Rome. Having reportedly rejected an offer from Lyon last summer, it is suspected that the 27-year-old could reconsider in the near future.

“He is a Roma player, but if you want to know his future you need to ask him as well,” Sensi responded briskly.

Aside from Mancini, Roma aren’t expected to conduct any negotiations during the January transfer window.

well we better show more interest and prove to the players that this is a club that is fighting for honors and that we can provide them the wining team and the challenge.

it will be a big big loss for us if de rossi and aquilani left the club, not that sure about mancini but we are the ones who are being a little of the word whn we promised an improved deal whn he played better and now he seems to be pegging back wth a dismal show in last few games.

Roma eye Christmas gifts Friday 28 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma are hoping to strengthen their squad during the January transfer market and could give their fans a special Christmas present.

At the moment the most expensive gifts are shaping up to be Adrian Mutu and Antonio Di Natale, who could move to the Capitale either now or in June.

According to the Italian newspaper ‘Il Corriere dello Sport’, Roma would be prepared to spend £10m on Mutu.

The Romanian has always shown his affection to the Fiorentina shirt, but the situation could change rapidly.

Last week he was whistled by his own fans, and after the game against Cagliari he confessed: “For the first time the fans have let me down.”

On the other hand, negotiations for Totò Di Natale are much more complicated. The Udinese star-man would be keen to join his former Coach Luciano Spalletti at Roma, but the Bianconeri won’t let him go easily.

Di Natale’s agent Bruno Carpeggiani, revealed that the Giallorossi will have to wait for a while.

“In January he won’t go anywhere. To decide his future we will have to wait until after the European Championship. We will restart the talks with Roma in May.” he stated to Romanews.eu.

With both deals potentially costly and problematic for the Giallorossi, they could decide to settle for something cheaper…

Erjon Bogdani, Riccardo Zampagna and Christian Riganò are in pole position but the most fascinating name is Fred.

The Brazilian striker is being kept out of the side at Lyon by Karim Benzema and Ben Arfa. Roma could be the perfect place for him to revive his ambitions.

now those are some juicy interst there.i would be more then happy to have any of them

No new Car for Roma Wednesday 2 January, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The unsettled Andrea Caracciolo will not be leaving Sampdoria for Roma during the January transfer window.

The big target man has been linked with a Giallorossi New Year switch, but agent Claudio Pasqualin has insisted such a move will not occur.

“There has been absolutely no contact with Franco Sensi’s club,” Pasqualin told Teleradiostereo on Wednesday evening.

“It might be true that Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti needs a player with his characteristics, but I’m unaware of any interest.”

Although Roma have been ruled out as a possible destination, the representative has claimed that the city of Rome could still be a possibility.

“Lazio have already made their move for him, but I can’t exclude the option of remaining with Sampdoria.”

Competition for a shirt at Doria has been tough for the former Brescia man seeing as they have Claudio Bellucci, Vincenzo Montella and Antonio Cassano also on their books.

Bronzetti reveals Roma remedy Wednesday 6 February, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Market consultant Ernesto Bronzetti has defended Roma’s transfer policy, but warns that the Giallorossi will need to invest heavily in the summer.

Bronzetti has been a regular middleman for the capital club and is often brought in to help push through transfers to the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma have come in for some criticism for their lack of signings in January as Inter continue to pull away at the top, but Bronzetti doesn’t think the lack of activity was necessarily an error.

“I have met Luciano Spalletti on several occasions and as far as I know he is happy with the squad that he has,” the FIFA agent told Il Romanista.

“It wouldn’t have made sense to make too many additions so to say that the transfer campaign was a failure is paradoxical.”

However, trailing Inter by eight points, Spalletti’s men have a mountain to climb if they are to realise their Scudetto dream and significant signings need to be made to stop the Nerazzurri juggernaut.

“With two big investments, Roma could overcome the gulf in class,” Bronzetti claimed.

“But it would need at least £20m to sign two top class players or maybe one of £12 and another of £8m.”

agree wth him on that matter.we really need to pull some investment just like we did this summer.the value he said up there is not over spending.its just adequate for club.

Vargas on Roman road Monday 11 February, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Catania President Antonino Pulvirenti accepts that star man Juan Vargas will leave in the summer and hopes that the Peruvian chooses Roma.

Vargas has been one of the revelations of the season and has won the attention of some top scouts during his second season in Sicily.

The talented wing-back has been linked with Juventus, Roma and Manchester United over the last few months, but it seems that the capital club may have the advantage.

“Vargas is ready for a big club,” Pulvirenti insisted on Teleradiostereo. “A lot of prestigious clubs want him, but I would like him to stay in Italy.

“I would happily watch him play for a great side like Roma. We have an excellent relationship with the Giallorossi directors and he would have our full blessing.

“We made an effort to end the tension there has been between the two clubs in the past. Rome and Catania are two civilised cities and the stabbings that took place were isolated and unrepresentative and will not be repeated.”

Reports suggest that Catania will command a fee of at least £7m for Vargas – a man they paid just £1.2m for in August 2006.

wow...this came out all of a sudden.not sure ive seen him play but lets see the next catania game then

Default Roma leap for Luis Fabiano

Quote:
Roma leap for Luis Fabiano Saturday 22 March, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma are staging an audacious bid for Liga top scorer Luis Fabiano, who could be snapped up for just £8.7m.

The Brazilian has been on spectacular form for Sevilla this season and has already netted 22 goals, 28 including Cup competitions.

Also the first choice centre-forward for the Selecao, he was signed from Porto in 2005 for less than £2m.

His price-tag has naturally rocketed since then, but the Gazzetta dello Sport claims there is a clause in his contract that could release him this summer for just £8.7m.

The money to pay for Luis Fabiano would come from the sale of Amantino Mancini, but it would also force a change of tactics.

He is a pure centre-forward, so Francesco Totti would by necessity be removed from that role and put further back into the Roma system.

It is possible they could keep the 4-2-3-1 with Totti in a deeper role behind the striker.

some good stuff in there, so any one have any more info on him?? the price seems to be a good one.and about the tactics, great team and great players dont always follow the same path but create new ones.that can be said on roma's system and totti.so it wont be a problem if he does join us.

Default Roma interested in Lisandro

Italian newspapers suggest that the capital club have been monitoring the progress of the Argentine international, who has been showing the form that led to his transfer from Racing Club in 2005 after he initially struggled to cope with the Portuguese game.

The 25-year-old is the current leader of the BWINLIGA in the goal-scoring stakes, having netted 19 goals in 22 appearances for the Dragons this season.

With Real Madrid reportedly interested in Roma's Montenegrin striker Mirko Vucinic, López seems to be high on the Italian club's replacement shortlist for the front area of the team.

AS Roma are also rumoured to be interested in signing Porto midfielders Ricardo Quaresma and Lucho González, but the Portuguese club seem keen on keeping all of these three figures, who are under a contract until 2011.
