Mido set to sign
Another almost (99,99%) done deal, Mido is on his way to Roma to sign a contract, ofcourse things still can go wrong but I don't think he'd be in Roma if they hadn't agreed already. He also already met Voller, who's set to be Roma's next coach.
Imo Mido is a class player and if he can get back in his top shape, he'll be as good as Gillardino in serie a, I have a very high view for this player

I don't think this is so great, i wish we hadn't got him. If he proves me wrong then great, if not then.
And his attitude is really really really bad.

True. But not so long ago he was being portrayed as a great talent, so maybe he'll be a bit happier here and therefore play a bit better.

I hope so. If not leave on the bench, although he won't be too happy with that.

Del Neri set for Roma
Quote:
Gigi Del Neri is close to becoming the new Coach of Roma after he held talks with the capital outfit.
"There is some truth in the Roma stories but there is nothing concrete," he told Radio anch'io Sport on Monday.
"I have been contacted by the club but I was also approached before they appointed Rudi Voller too."
Although the tactician is remaining cautious, reports in Italy insist that the former Chievo boss will be handed the job this week.
He allegedly met with Roma sporting director Franco Baldini at the city’s Fiumicino airport last night.

Can he turn this ship around?

Depends on the crew members. If they co-opertae and work as a team then yes. If not then the boat will sink.

Del Neri: I won't change Totti
Gigi Del Neri has given his first press conference as Roma boss and revealed a few insights into his tactical set-up for the troubled team.
“I hope to be worthy of this city and its team, so that I can repay them for the faith shown in me. Roma is a big club and we’ll try to keep them at the top level by working as a team," he said after penning a two-year contract.
"It’s certainly the most important moment of my career,” commented the Coach who was fired by European Champions Porto last month.
“I will try not to merely be the third manager of the season to take charge of this side, but rather a long-standing member of the club. I’m convinced that with the right ideas and the hard work from our players, we can get some great results.”
The Giallorossi are in disarray after losing both Cesare Prandelli and Rudi Voller in the space of a month, while morale is low following their 4-2 Champions’ League defeat at Real Madrid.
Former Chievo boss Del Neri is famed for applying his 4-4-2 system rigidly and believing that the players should mould themselves around the tactics rather than the other way round. This has led to reports that he will try to re-evaluate Francesco Totti in a midfield role.
“Totti is capable of playing anywhere on the field,” noted the Coach, “but so that I won’t ruin the good work he has done, I think he’ll sit behind the front two. Whatever the position, he remains a crucial player and the shining light of this team.”
Del Neri has also clashed with his stars in the past, most notably ex-Chievo striker Massimo Marazzina, so the media was wondering how he’ll deal with Antonio Cassano.
“There has to be a different rapport with every player,” he insisted, “so it is up to me to find the best form with Cassano. He is a man, not a boy, and must be treated as such. He could play out wide on the left or act as a support striker, and I also have Gaetano D’Agostino who can fulfil that role. Vincenzo Montella and Mido are both capable of giving the team depth, which is what a forward should do.”
Voller claimed during his resignation speech that he could “not control” the squad, so how will Del Neri take charge?
“A Coach has the keys to the dressing room and the players must always follow his orders. The important thing is for everyone to respect each other. I chat with every player and want our relationship to be honest and direct.”

Roma favoured by sacked Chelsea striker Mutu
Quote:
AS Roma are favourites to land sacked Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu once he has served his seven-month drugs ban.
The Sunday Mirror says Mutu wants to return to Italy, where he made his name with Parma before joining Chelsea for £15.8m in the summer of 2003.
A close friend of Mutu said: "He has offers from a number of clubs, but seems extremely keen on Roma. But whatever happens it's unlikely he will remain in England."
Mutu returned to Rome after the FA hearing at Soho Square on Thursday.

That would be quite cool, I've been a fan of Mutu since his Verona days and also been really shocked by the way he's been treated by Cheslea.

I tend to agree, whatever happened to giving someone a second chance?
Its funny, Mutu will look like a saint, compared to Cassano.::leedswac

Well it depends on what you mean by saint.
Other than the moto helmet thingy Cassano hasn't broken the law and as far as I know hasn't done drugs. Does however have the tendency to lose his temper and fallen out with many managers.
Mutu has done cocaine and has had his driving license suspnded after doing some crazy speeding AND also fell out with Mourinho.
(Cassano has better hair as well.)

Gilardino revives Roma rumours
Quote:
While newspapers in Italy believe he’s already agreed a deal with Milan, Alberto Gilardino admits he’s still got his eye on a move to Roma.
“There was the chance to join the Capital club this summer,” revealed the 22-year-old who will face the Giallorossi this Sunday, “but then I decided to stay at Parma for another season and I think it was the right choice. I definitely won’t leave in January, but we’ll see what happens in June.”
The Italian international shot to fame as the replacement for Adriano in the second half of last season and he has been on the wish-lists of most top clubs. Juventus and Milan were touted, but throughout he had one club in mind.
“I don’t know if the Roma move has been shelved for good. It’s a wonderful city with a big club and passionate fans. This year my Under-21 international teammates Daniele De Rossi, Ivan Pelizzoli and Matteo Ferrari pressured me to join them and negotiations were in place, but for a series of reasons we couldn’t reach an agreement.”
Gilardino would above all relish the opportunity to create a world class and all-Azzurri trident attack at the Stadio Olimpico.
“Francesco Totti is one of the best players in the world and Antonio Cassano is just unique! Vincenzo Montella is doing great things with Roma now, so I don’t think they really need me.”
The European Under-21 Champion was also linked to some foreign giants, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, but rules out a Premiership move. “I would definitely choose La Liga if I were to go abroad, as it’s just too cold in England.”
Meanwhile, the chilly striker is looking ahead to a new experience with Coach Pietro Carmignani at the Stadio Tardini.
“We spoke and I immediately understood where he was coming from,” concluded Gilardino. “We tested out the system we used last year with Domenico Morfeo supporting me and that can be a real boost for our attacking potential.”

Playing up front with Totti, dream partnership?

Maybe so. Good decision about England though, I find most Italian players to lose parts of their game once they start to play on UK soil. Maccarone anyone? ::bigeyes:
