Roma are taking their time with Chivu. Especially now that they signed Juan, they can hold off until the perfect deal comes in. Roma will take a shot at Quagliarella...they will probably lose in getting him, but maybe someone else will come available.

Quag wants Juve!
Quote:
Fabio Quagliarella may be a £10m target for Manchester United, but he has other plans. “I’d walk all the way to Turin for Juventus.”
His future can now be decided after the resolution of his co-ownership status between Sampdoria and Udinese went in favour of the Friuli outfit.
He has confirmed receiving an offer of at least £10m from Manchester United, but it was rejected by his previous club Samp.
“I say it clearly – I am ready for a big club. I am accustomed to making the most out of my opportunities, so Juve or Manchester would be a great chance for me,” he told the ‘Corriere dello Sport.’
“If the right offer reached Udinese, then obviously my future could change. But I also reflect on the fact I need a certain consistency in the first team to keep growing and I think Udinese can give me that.”
While Sir Alex Ferguson is a great admirer of Quagliarella’s, the Serie A breakout star is also high on Claudio Ranieri’s list.
“Juve are one of the most important clubs in the world. Who would walk away from that? It would be a wonderful experience.
“Manchester United are also prestigious and I watch the Premiership on television. Perhaps the football is not as competitive as in Italy, but it is very tough physically.
With 13 goals in the top flight this term for a Sampdoria side wracked with problems and a brace on his first Italy start against Lithuania, can Quagliarella do better?
“I do not feel I am 100 per cent mature as a player. I am growing at the right tempo. There’s a long road ahead of me and this next season will be the most difficult, as I have to confirm my talent.”

Seems Roma are out of the race...

Udinese keep Quagliarella?
Sunday 24 June, 2007
Manchester United and Juventus may be in a bidding war, but Udinese may not release Fabio Quagliarella at all.
The Friuli outfit won a blind auction with Sampdoria for £5m to control his entire registration this week, but were expected to sell him on to the highest bidder.
“I am convinced he will remain at Udinese,” said agent Silvio Pagliari. “I don’t believe the club will send him elsewhere, at least not immediately.”
Quagliarella’s market value sky-rocketed this season after 13 goals for Sampdoria in Serie A and a brace against Lithuania in his first Azzurri start.
“I believe they still want to let him mature and grow at the Stadio Friuli so that his value can go even higher and then sell him in the future.
“So Fabio must focus on playing a great season, confirming all the wonderful things he did with Samp.”
The 23-year-old has attracted interest from Manchester United – who are said to have offered in excess of £10m – Juventus, Milan and Roma.

No one is untouchable, especially not Quagliarella. So if they get a good offer, they may let him go. But it sure won't be to Roma. What do Roma do now??? Deal for Lucarelli maybe? But he said he didn't want to leave anymore, right?

I don't see him as a Trezeguet replacement though, he's not a 20 goal-a-season striker.

But 10 of those were wonder goals, that worries me.
He's still hasn't proved he's a natural finisher yet.
