Cagliari have admitted that they are ready to hand over Italian international Mauro Esposito to Roma.

The winger is a wanted man on the transfer market and the Sardinian side are ready to do business – despite the fact that he is arguably one of their best players.

“Talks with Roma for Esposito could take off in the very near future,” noted Rossoblu sporting director Nicola Salerno.

“Both clubs are busy with other transfer matters at this present moment, but there is time on our side.”

Although the islanders are ready to release the midfielder, they still want to keep a 50 per cent stake in his contract.

“We haven’t discussed figures with Roma, but we would prefer to sell him in a co-ownership deal,” added Salerno.

“Roma can offer the player the chance to increase his market value by allowing him to reach his highest levels again.”

However, the official did admit that Roma do face some competition for the former Pescara and Udinese man.

“Napoli, his own city, are keen on him even if Mauro would prefer a move to the capital given the stage they can offer him.”

Esposito, who broke into the Giro Azzurro under Coach Marcello Lippi, struggled for form last term before a knee ligament injury saw him ruled out for six months.

Mighty...i made the same mistake. It was a bid from Udi and Samp for resolve the co-own deal, not sale of the player.

Udinese have secured the full ownership of Fabio Quagliarella after winning their blind auction with Sampdoria.

The clubs had failed to resolve the player’s contract status before the June 20 deadline and presented their bids in sealed envelopes on Wednesday, which were then opened this afternoon.

“I am leaving an important club to join another great one,” said Quagliarella to Radio Radio.

“We mustn’t forget that the Bianconeri were in the Champions League two years ago. I am flattered by the fact that they invested so much on me.”

Whispers suggest that Udinese made a £5m bid for Sampdoria’s 50 per cent stake in the Azzurri man, approximately £600,000 more than Doria offered for the Friuli club’s half.

“I don’t think Udinese will now let me leave – unless they receive a very important offer,” added the 23-year-old.

“Juventus and Roma want me? Now it’s fantasy football, but you can never say never.”

The player’s agent had stated earlier in the day that the former Ascoli man was a target for Manchester United, although the Premiership outfit had yet to contact him.

“I know there is some interest from Manchester United. I am very proud of it, just as he is,” said Silvio Pagliari to BBC Sport.

“However, they have had no contact with me or with Sampdoria. In any case, he would definitely be keen on playing in England.

“I don’t know when Fabio will decide his future. The transfer window is open until August 31 and at the time being we have no preference.

“The first club that shows us they want to sign Quagliarella will be the one we will play for.”

Rumours have led to speculation that Udinese might now cash in on the Italian international, although sporting director Pietro Leonardi declared that he would be going nowhere.

“There are many things that we need to consider,” added Pagliari.

“Many big clubs in Italy are interested in Fabio, like Inter and Juventus, and he would have no problem to play for clubs like Manchester, Chelsea or Arsenal.

“I think something between £10m and £13.5m will be enough to secure the player’s services.”

We'll see what udinese intend to do with him. Kind of better that Udinese got him though. Spalletti has a good relatiopnship with Udinese and maybe that will influence them in selling.

I dont think so...the president of Udinese was quoted telling Udinese fans to go out and buy Quagliarella jerseys..without worrying because he hand 100% no intention of selling Quagliarella once they won the blind auction

But he said they would sell him between £10-13. That's a clear indication that they
want to cash in on him to the highest bidder.

I think samp were the ones who said they would sell him between 10-14 mil im pretty sure udine said he stays...i could be wrong though~

They will sell him if they receive the right offer...hopefully to Roma.

Udinese did well, sold an average striker to Juve for a fair amount of money and got a new more talanted one instead.
