nope they dont, well thats how the world works.once a player is rumored to have caught the attention of a big club the price would shoot through the roof

Here goes Roma's attempt to sign Quagliarella...Sampdoria have played this smart. Good for them...Please Roma offer £5m...please.

Quagliarella up for auction Wednesday 20 June, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Udinese sporting director Pietro Leonardi has confirmed that his club and Sampdoria will face a blind auction for Fabio Quagliarella.
The striker, one of the hottest properties on the transfer market, is co-owned by both clubs and they have been unable to resolve his contract status.
“There will be a blind auction for Quagliarella,” said Leonardi leaving the Ata Quark Hotel in Milan earlier today. “Both clubs will now serenely make their offer.”
A blind auction takes place in Italian football when two sides can’t decide on the fate of a player.
Therefore they secretly place an offer, for the other club’s 50 per cent stake in the individual, in a sealed envelope and then hand that over to the Italian Football League.
Whichever club bids the highest has to pay that fee in order to net the player.
The deadline for the co-ownership deals expires tonight at 19:00 local time and the envelopes will be opened tomorrow at the Lega Calcio offices.
All parties involved are eager to resolve the Quagliarella issue as early as possible as he can’t move on this summer, as expected, until his ownership status is clarified.
The former Torino player, who scored 13 goalsToday’s development dismisses reports suggesting that Sampdoria had a £4m offer accepted by the Bianconeri last night. last season in Serie A, has been the subject of a reported £10m bid by Manchester United.
The Italian international, who scored a brace in the Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania earlier this month, is also a target for Manchester United, Juventus, Roma and Milan

Feindouno keen on Roma move
tribalfooball.com - June 21, 2007
Saint-Etienne striker Pascal Feindouno would welcome a move to Roma.
"I don't think there is much of a chance that we will see Pascal with the Giallorossi," said his agent, Fabrizio Ferrari.
"It is my understanding that they have other transfer objectives. It is a pity as I think he could have been useful to Spalletti's tactics."

Looks like Udinese may end up owning him. But i don't trust "whispers" anymore

Udinese to keep Quagliarella
Thursday 21 June, 2007
Udinese have insisted that they won’t sell Fabio Quagliarella if, as expected, they take control of his ownership tomorrow.
The club has been forced into a blind auction with Sampdoria to resolve his co-ownership status and it seems as if the Bianconeri have made a more lucrative bid.
Whispers claim that Udinese have offered £5m for Samp’s share and Doria have bid around £4.5m for the Friuli outfit’s half.
Those rumours have led to speculation that Udinese will then sell the Italian international to the highest bidder.
However, sporting director Pietro Leonardi has underlined that the former Torino and Ascoli attacker will be going nowhere.
“Our fans can stay calm,” he noted. “We are almost certain that our offer for the player is higher than Sampdoria’s valuation.
“If that is the case then I am telling our supporters to go and buy replica Quagliarella shirts because he is not transferable.
“He’ll play with us next season.”
Quagliarella, 13 Serie A goals last term, has been strongly linked with Manchester United, both Milan clubs, Roma and Juventus.
The English champions were rumoured to have already made Sampdoria a £10m offer last month.
