Semioli has Roma option

Roma have renewed their interest in Chievo midfielder Franco Semioli, according to the player’s agent.

The Italian international was wanted by a host of clubs in the summer, including the Giallorossi, but remained in Verona following the side’s entry into the Champions League.

“Roma have often expressed their interest in Semioli, but they will have to satisfy Chievo’s requests in order for him to leave the Gialloblu at the end of the season,” said agent Claudio Sclosa.

“I believe he can be valued at something around £5m, he is one of the best players in his role, along with Mauro Camoranesi,” added Semioli’s representative.

“Roma are very keen on signing him, but there are also other Serie A outfits who are interested, as well as Spanish clubs such as Valencia, Espanyol and Sevilla.”

Giallorossi goalkeeper Gianluca Curci is also among Sclosa’s clients and the agent confirmed that his position will be discussed at the end of the season.

“We believe he deserves to play in Serie A, but we will meet with club officials at the end of the current campaign to see what will happen.

“We need to understand what Luciano Spalletti and the management want, now it is premature to make any conjectures.”

Sclosa then moved on to comment on Gianluca Zambrotta’s season in Spain, admitting that the player would be glad to move to Milan.

“He likes it at Barcelona and I don’t see any reasons why he should return to Italy next year,” he explained.

“In any case, if he were to leave the Bluagrana he would like to join the Rossoneri, but that doesn’t mean there are talks underway,” ended Sclosa.

Roma were interested in Semioli last year but i guess CL tempted Chievo to keep him. Hope Roma don't spend £5m on him and can work out a trade possibly to bring that price down. After we passed on Wilhelmsson, Roma need another midfielder.

Semioli is quality though, I don't think £5m would be unreasonable.

He's 27 now, so that's a plus. But i don't see Roma spending £5m. They passed On Wilhelmsson for £2m. But getting Semioli would be ok, if they can bring the price down a bit. But Roma have other areas to cover first...trying to get Iaquinta away from Juve

I think the key word is men...Roma need players who have played at high levels before and have the experience from playing in three competitions.

Ferrari wants new deal Thursday 10 May, 2007

Roma defender Matteo Ferrari wants to extend his stay with the Giallorossi, according to his agent Gianni Corci.

The former Under-21 international is contracted until 2008 and a renewal is expected to be discussed soon with the capital city club.

“Matteo’s future is with Roma, that is what he wants,” Corci told Teleradiostereo on Thursday.

“Our will is for him to stay here and I believe it is the same for the management, but I prefer to discuss these things at the appropriate time and place,” continued the stopper’s representative.

Ferrari returned to his best after struggling in a loan spell at Everton in 2005-06 and recently stated that he wanted Roma to treat him as an important player.

“By saying that he only meant to erase once and for all the rumours which had started after his negative season with Roma in 2004-05,” explained Corci.

“That was a horrible year for the entire team and Ferrari was slammed by everyone despite the fact that any player can go through a difficult time.

“This moment represents the peak in Matteo’s career. I thought that was when he was called up for the Nazionale at 24, but playing at high levels with a prestigious club like Roma is just as important,” concluded Corci.

Ferrari was paired with Fiorentina in the autumn, as Coach Cesare Prandelli seemed keen on working with the former Parma youngster again following their time together at the Tardini.

well would be good back up just in case we have some freak injuries, but he needs to up his game if he is to be fighting for 1st team action.

I like Ferrari as a back up. I don't think he has what it takes to play 35+ games a season as a number one. He does a good job at filling for Mexes and Chivu. Chivu has been playing well well lately at LB with Tonetto injured, but i think Roma will keep onetto at LB and leave Chivu and Mexes together.

Alberto Faccini told Tutto Mercato Web: "They are both attracting interest from Serie A and B. But we'll wait to see what Roma have to say.

Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini has refused to expand on his interest in Roma's stars.

Amantino Mancini, Philippe Mexes, Cristian Chivu and Daniele De Rossi have all been paired with Inter, but Mancini refused to be drawn into transfer talk.

"A few weeks ago I spoke about those who I considered the best Italian players around and someone said I wanted all of them at Inter," he said.

"Last week I spoke about the media and there was another big misunderstanding. Every time I say something it's pandemonium, so I'm not saying anything else.
