Cristiano Lucarelli’s agent Carlo Pallavicino has denied speculation linking the Livorno striker with a move to Roma.

Pallavicino was quoted in Italian daily Il Romanista today as saying that discussions had taken place with the Giallorossi to take Lucarelli to the capital in the summer.

"Cristiano going to Roma is a definite possibility and he would be delighted to wear a Giallorossi shirt," Pallavicino was alleged to have said.

"Sensi is looking for a striker in June and Lucarelli would undoubtedly be perfect in this role as he has all the characteristics to spearhead Luciano Spalletti’s attack," the quotes continued.

"This development has come from Spalletti’s admiration for Cristiano and from comments that he made about my client a few weeks ago."

However, the agent moved to deny ever having linked the prolific goalscorer with any such move.

"There have been no negotiations between the player and the club," said Pallavicino this afternoon. "It’s a matter of pure journalistic invention.

"Cristiano is happy at Livorno and only recently signed a contract extension," he added. "He is absolutely not thinking about leaving."

Livorno President Aldo Spinelli has this afternoon insisted that Cristiano Lucarelli will remain with the club.

The striker, last season’s Serie A top scorer, has been linked with an exit this week as he continues to ripple top-flight nets.

However, Spinelli has underlined that the Livorno-born fan favourite is not for sale at any price.

"Money doesn’t matter at all in this equation," the Tuscan chief told reporters on Friday. "Lucarelli is staying at Livorno."

The former Torino player was wanted by Monaco earlier this month, while he was heavily associated with a summer switch to Roma this week.

Nevertheless, Spinelli says that there are only a handful of clubs whom he would deal with should Lucarelli one day really quit the outfit.

"If I had to release him then I would only do so to Milan, Juventus, Inter, Tottenham or Manchester United," he stated.

Roma are ready to sell Mido to Tottenham Hotspur in order to raise the funds necessary to swoop for Udinese star Vincenzo Iaquinta.

The Italian international is the club’s primary transfer objective after boss Luciano Spalletti, who worked with him during his time as Udinese Coach, specifically requested his services.

However, the Bianconeri star is not going to come cheap as the club value him in the region of £15m.

Roma are in no financial state to meet such a figure and will have to sell first, with Mido ready to make his loan move to Spurs permanent.

“It is important for me to stay at one club for four or five years and I think that Tottenham is the ideal solution for me,” the Egyptian international has stated.

“I like everything there is here, the stadium, the fans, the people, the way we play our football,” added the former Ajax sensation.

“I love English football and I am settled here with my family. I came to Spurs because I didn’t have much space at Roma and I want to stay.”

The capital club, who signed the enigma from French giants Marseille, are hoping to net somewhere in the region of £5m for the player.

Roma, who will be free to operate on the transfer market in the summer once their ban expires, have had a constant striker crisis this term.

So much so that 16-year-old Stefano Okaka may play against Ascoli at the weekend in the absence of Francesco Totti, Vincenzo Montella and Shabani Nonda.

I see two unkowns here at the moment. Iaquinta is not the player he was, and either is Mido. Though I do see more raw talent with Mido.
