05/22/2004. After the departures of Zebina and Samuel, and the almost certain transfer of Emerson towards either Juventus or Real Madrid, another Roma player has admitted he will be leaving the giallorossi this summer: Francisco Lima.

Te midfielder revealed: "Roma offered me an extension, however I told them that first I will evaluate other situations. I will be leaving with tranquillity and respect. I hope for Roma to win the Scudetto also with the new players that will come. These have been three beautiful years in a squad I have been well."

Lima also stated that he will be probably playing in Spain next season as that's where most offers have arrived from.

Well they still have 9 mil in the bank from the Samuel move, and they've yet to sell Emerson. I think it will take a while to get out of debt. If Gilardino is a gamble, but he could also be considered an investment. He's still young, if Totti can help him become the top scorer in Serie A, the he'll be worth more than what they paid for him.

Philippe Mexes held extensive talks with the Giallorossi and could complete his switch on Monday, where Matteo Ferrari’d join him.


The defender has been a long-term transfer target for Roma, although the last time he was in negotiations with the club it was also with Coach Fabio Capello.


Despite the change in management with the arrival of Parma’s Cesare Prandelli, Mexes (pictured) reaffirmed that he is intent on joining the Stadio Olimpico outfit.


The only stumbling block now is his current club Auxerre, who have set a price-tag of approximately £5.6m, whereas Roma are only prepared to pay around £3.5m.


Mexes is embroiled in a legal battle over his contract with the French side, as he maintains that he can buy his way out for just over £3m.


If the Giallorossi make a formal offer to Auxerre of somewhere in-between the two figures, then the deal could be completed as early as Monday.


Another defensive reinforcement is likely to be Matteo Ferrari, who is currently preparing for Euro 2004.


“I would be happy and proud to continue working with Prandelli,” revealed the Parma defender.

“I know that something is happening behind the scenes between my club and Roma, while Antonio Cassano has given me advice on where to buy a house in the Capital.”

If they get both of these players, I will definitely be surprised.

Both of them, i doubt that (also how would they be played?) Though eitehr one would be an excellent addition. I think i'd prefer Ferrari as i've seen him play more then Mexes and he's italian.

Both are great players but for both of them Roma will get a lot of competition and that's something they can't win unless the players really loves the team and isn't interested in moving anywhere else

Ferrari will go to Roma, he seems to want it more then Mexes does plus if i had to pick one it would be him as i have seen him play more and works wonders.
