Roma in pole for Podolski Wednesday 7 January, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are being tipped to challenge Roma for the signature of Lukas Podolski, but the German ace continues to flirt with the Giallorossi.

Podolski's days at Bayern Munich seem to be numbered after the arrival of USA international Landon Donovan and Croat Ivica Olic.

The 23-year-old has refused to commit his future to Die Roten and has hinted that he would welcome a move to Roma.

“I have heard that Roma are interested in me, but I have had no contact with the Giallorossi,” Podolski told Il Giornale.

“Francesco Totti is a great player and he showed incredible strength to come back for the 2006 World Cup after his injury.

“It really wouldn't be bad to play alongside Totti. An adventure in Italy would be nice and Luca Toni has always told me I would do well there and improve as a player.”

But Tuttosport claims that Juve are lining up a bid to snatch Podolski away from the Giallorossi.

The Old Lady would reportedly have no trouble meeting the required £8.5m fee and would like to bolster their attacking ranks.

OMG!!we got to get him, and the price tag written there isnt too over bloated also!!

Roma look to Ayala Thursday 29 January, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma are interested in bringing Argentina and Real Zaragoza defender Roberto Ayala to the Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi are in the market for an experienced defender after Christian Panucci announced his desire to leave the club at the weekend.

Ayala, who will be 36 in April, has been playing in the Spanish Second Division with Zaragoza, but is still performing to an international standard.

“There has been no contact between Roma and I about my client, I guarantee that,” said Ayala’s agent Claudio Anellucci.

“But maybe Roma have this idea. Still, they have yet to communicate it to us,” he added, before declaring that Ayala would consider such a move.

“Why not? Without a doubt,” he said. “If Roma were to telephone us, we would be willing to look at whatever deal they put on the table. Anything can happen until the end of the transfer window.”

While Anellucci said he had not spoken to Roma about Ayala, he did admit that the Giallorossi have been in touch with him about other players.

“Around 20 days ago, I spoke with Roma’s directors because they wanted an opinion poll on South America,” revealed Anellucci.

“They are interested in 30 players, but we are talking about deals that will only come to fruition in the summer.”

The news linking Roma with a move for Ayala will come as a blow to rivals Lazio who are also rumoured to be drawing up a bid for the player.

bullshit, havent we suffered enough wth the farce we got in the name of loria.

Roma move in on Motta Friday 30 January, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma are closing in on Udinese defender Marco Motta, as relations with Christian Panucci remain cold.

Panucci demanded to be sold after refusing to take a seat on the bench against Napoli.

A serious injury to Marco Cassetti has caused a defensive crisis at the Stadio Olimpico and it seems Roma may turn to ex-Azzurrini star Motta.

“The situation is developing,” Motta's agent Beppe Bozzo told LaRoma24.it.

“Today we will talk to the two clubs. We have an agreement with Udinese and now we must discuss things with Roma.

“We are working on things as we speak. A loan deal is a hypothesis, but that's what we must talk to the Giallorossi directors about.”

this is a way better news i heard in long time, he looks promising and could make it wth us

Report: Roma To Revive Interest In Stefano Guberti
The Bari midfielder is again being linked with a move to the Giallorossi...

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Roma have not given up hope of signing winger Stefano Guberti and a summer bid looks on the cards.

The 24-year-old left Ascoli for Bari last January and will become a free agent in July, as his contract with the Marchigiani will expire.

Therefore, Ascoli opted to loan him out to the Pugliesi until the end of the current campaign with an option to buy him next summer for a nominal fee.

Guberti seems to have rediscovered his best form at the Stadio San Nicola and has also netted three goals in five appearances, propelling Bari to the top of the Serie B standings.

The team led by former Juventus man Antonio Conte are now expected to take up their option to sign him permanently, but Roma could try and derail the move.

The Giallorossi have been tracking the talented wide man for some time, but failed in their bid to take him to the capital during the January transfer window.

Guberti has played a single season in the top flight with Ascoli, making 22 appearances and netting his debut Serie A goal against Milan in April 2007.

Roma Shortlist Players To Acquire This Summer
I Lupi are starting to narrow down their transfer strategy

Roma have had a largely disappointing season and risk missing out on the Champions League for the next campaign. Injuries have played their part in the Giallorossi's troubles and the club are aiming to bring in several reinforcements during the summer, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Udinese winger Simone Pepe and Inter striker Julio Cruz have been targeted. Pepe has worked his way onto the Italian national team this season, while the Argentine forward has been surplus to requirements for the Nerazzurri.

Meanwhile, Roma are also considering a bid for Palermo defender Moris Carrozzieri, who has impressed for the Sicilian outfit.

However, the newest name on the list is PSV star Ibrahim Afellay. The Dutch international is apparently ready to make the move to a bigger club, according to agent Alberto Faccini and Roma now seem a valid possibility after Faccini was seen at Trigoria. However, he denied he was there for negotiations regarding the 23-year-old.

For the moment, Roma are concentrated on their upcoming match with Bologna on Sunday.

Roma plan revolution Monday 13 April, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma could sell goalkeeper Doni and defender Philippe Mexes [pictured] this summer as they look to overhaul their ailing squad.

The Giallorossi are in real danger of not qualifying for the Champions League after they lost 4-2 to Lazio on Saturday.

Roma lie sixth in Serie A and are now eight points behind fourth placed Genoa with just seven games left this season.

Doni is being linked with a move to Manchester City, although the prospects of the English outfit buying another keeper so soon after signing Shay Given are slim.

The Italian Press believe the Blues are ready to pay £14m for the Brazilian, though, and Roma, who are in desperate need of cash, are willing to sell.

Doni has struggled with several injuries this season and has been very unsteady when called upon by Coach Luciano Spalletti.

Roma would consider replacing Doni with Cagliari stopper Federico Marchetti or Pelè, who plays for Le Mans in France.

Mexes, meanwhile, has also become a scapegoat for the Giallorossi's defensive frailties this season.

The former Auxerre youngster scored on Saturday but was also sent off and Spalletti is believed to be losing patience with the 27-year-old.

Milan have long been admirers of Mexes and need to address problems at centre-back as Paolo Maldini retires and Alessandro Nesta continues to struggle for fitness.

Jeremy Menez, the French trequartista who signed from Monaco in the summer, is also rumoured to be on his way out.

The 21-year-old is far from happy with the lack of first team football at Roma and is ready to split with the club.

Menez has made just 15 appearances for the Giallorossi this season despite injuries to Francesco Totti and Rodrigo Taddei.

wow...we are desperate but selling mexes(tho same cant be said for doni, since we have a very good and able gk in curci)wont solve the problem.infact it just deepens.

sell the old dogs that are useless like loria.we need at least 5 players if we are to add depth and replacees the personel we have lost/retired

imo, we need another striker, 3 mid-fielders, and 1 more defensive player.

Why would you get rid of your best CB? surely mexes should stay, even if he did get injured this season rather a lot. Getting rid of your best players is never a gd move.

ok the seaason is over...well almost over but that didnt stop the flurry of tranfer activities from getting a head start.

we kick off wth this news:

Perrotta has Fiorentina option Saturday 30 May, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fiorentina are preparing for the Champions League with an audacious swoop for Roma star Simone Perrotta.

The Giallorossi were pipped to the post for fourth place and could now lose one of their top players to the Viola as well.

Perrotta’s contract expires in June 2010 and he is one of several members of the squad still to renegotiate a new deal.

With qualification only for the Europa League and huge debts already at the club, Roma are ready to part with some of their top names.

It’s reported that Fiorentina transfer guru Pantaleo Corvino has his eye on Perrotta, who would reunite with former Chievo teammate Franco Semioli.

As he is 31 and has struggled with injury this season, the Tuscans hope to take British-born Perrotta on a cut-price deal.

take him, we gladly give you him.no need for a cut rprice deal any thing.

Trezeguet hints at Roma switch Saturday 30 May, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Trezeguet could make a sensational switch to Roma, admits his agent, but it all depends on who sits on the bench.

“The player has always been in Roma’s plans and there could be a renewed interest if the circumstances allow,” Antonio Caliendo told Centro Suono Sport radio.

“First of all we have to wait and see if the player stays at Juventus or not.”

Trez had a notoriously fractious rapport with Claudio Ranieri, but there is still uncertainty over who will lead Juventus next season.

While Ciro Ferrara, Antonio Conte and Laurent Blanc are options, Roma’s future is also in doubt after Luciano Spalletti hinted he would be moving on.

There was a warning from the agent that Trezeguet could opt for a split from the Turin club whether it is consensual or not.

“If Trezeguet does decide to go, there are some FIFA regulations to be respected based on Article 17. His price-tag is around £8m,” continued Caliendo.

“If the club decided to sell him then they will set their own price-tag. Until the matter is official, we cannot show our hand one way or the other, seeing as he still has a two-year contract with Juventus.

“We will wait and see who the Coach is for next season, as everything could still change.”

now this one is one i like a bit.i know he has aged a bit, but he can still be the man to come off a the bench and grab us a goal or 2.but this doesnt mean we will splash cash on him.if we can get him around £5m price tag or 6 it would be good bargain and cover.

Roma prepare Sheva surprise Friday 12 June, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma are set to talk to Milan about the prospect of bringing Andriy Shevchenko to the Eternal City this summer.

The Ukraine international recently returned to Chelsea after spending last season on loan at San Siro.

Milan have a great influence over his future, though, as he remains emotionally tied to the club.

They know Carlo Ancelotti does not want him in London and cannot see him figuring in Leonardo's plans either.

However, Milan feel they can do a better job than Chelsea at finding Shevchenko another club, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

He is likely to cost nothing despite having another year to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge, as the Blues want rid of him.

Roma and Milan have a good relationship and intend to do a lot of business together ahead of next season.

The Giallorossi registered an interest in Shevchenko last summer and Luciano Spalletti reportedly met with him.

For sentimental reasons, the Ukraine international decided to rejoin Milan though, with whom he scored 127 goals in 208 appearances between 1999 and 2006.

However, he played little and failed to rediscover the form that once won him the Ballon d'Or.

Roma are looking for a centre-forward, who can give weight and experience to their rather lightweight attack.

Too often this season they came to rely on Francesco Totti and Mirko Vucinic to do all of the legwork up front

this is another one i like, but wth our current state of financial i doubt we can make a substantial offer and on top of that he might just called back by ancellotti and who knows he can make the guy work again for the blues.

transfer rumor round up:

Quote:
Roma track Guberti and Pepe Monday 15 June, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma are looking to add some more attacking potency to their midfield with the signings of Stefano Guberti and Simone Pepe [pictured].

Guberti, who is 24 and comes off an excellent season for Bari, is expected to join the Giallorossi later this week.

“I met this morning with Roma director of sport Daniele Pradè and his interest in signing Guberti was confirmed,” Claudio De Nicola, his agent, said.

“In the next two days there will be two important meetings with two other clubs and a decision will be made. Roma cannot do anymore.

“We have made June 18 the deadline for a decision. In that period I believe an agreement between Guberti and Roma can be done,” De Nicola revealed.

Fiorentina and Juventus are also said to be interested in Guberti, who has played in Serie A before with Ascoli.

Meanwhile, Pepe is also close to a return to Roma, the club he joined as a schoolboy in 2000.

The 25-year-old spent three years with the Giallorossi, but never made an appearance for the first team.

He left for Palermo in 2003, where he failed to hold down a regular place and then moved to Udinese in 2006.

Pepe has enjoyed an excellent season with the Zebrette, scoring four goals in 33 appearances in Serie A.

He made his debut for Italy against Bulgaria in October 2008 and is currently with the Azzurri in South Africa as they prepare for the Confederations Cup.

“There has been contact, it's true and now, in the next few days, we have to open negotiations. I cannot allow myself to say anymore,” Pepe said.

“I am an Udinese player. We said a couple of days ago that I was negotiating a contract renewal. That said, I am waiting to see what happens.

“It's true, this year has been simply fantastic. I am enjoying this splendid experience in the World Cup winning Italy squad, in a competition of great prestige,” he concluded.

2 very soild players i would say.not the ronaldo or kaka level but can be world class under the wing of spalletti and roma.

now this the kind of players we should be singing and move early on before the big ones come along to snatch them.

Aquilani could leave Roma Friday 24 July, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti has admitted he would be willing to sell Alberto Aquilani if an offer were to come in that suited both the club and the player.

The 25-year-old midfielder is the subject of interest from Liverpool, who might soon need a replacement for Xabi Alonso, the latest player linked with a move to Real Madrid.

“I think it's only a matter of time before someone comes knocking to ask about some of our players. We will invest in any replacements once we know what areas need reinforcing following the departure of one of our own,” Spalletti told Il Corriere dello Sport.

“Mexes and Juan are staying put, I have worked hard to develop them and they give the side an added stability. We want to keep Totti, whilst De Rossi is a player that simply cannot be released.

“We have been quite expert in recent years following the departures of a number of our top players, and we have always managed to reorganise ourselves well. We would love to bring Aquilani back to the levels that he has shown he can reach, but there are a number of clubs interested in his services,” Spalletti revealed.

“If he should find a solution that is good for him and less so for the club, then a move is unlikely to go ahead. Either way the challenge remains the same as we look to regroup and compete on the same level as the top sides in Europe.”

Aquilani suffered with injury last season yet still did enough to convince the club to offer him a lucrative new contract, which means any team interested in his services will have to stump up a lot of cash.

its been while since we heard any rumors that have any weight on it.so here it is.we have been presented wth aquilani's future for days now.

so do we sell him???do we keep him??

im divided.at times he can just pick any team but at time he is soo disappointing wth his injury and such.

we surely need the cash, and we wouldnt be in this situation in the 1st place if the sensi's had done the right thing.
