Roma could then try to sign Barcelona’s Gerard, as the 26-year-old’s contract at the Nou Camp expires in the summer.

Ze Roberto opens Roma door

The capital club have a long history of signing Brazilian players, after stars such as Falcao, Aldair and Emerson all wore the Giallorossi colours with success.
Ze Roberto was close to moving to Serie A in the past when Parma made a bid while he was still at Leverkusen.
