Serie A' MD6: A.S Roma - Siena [05-10-08]
Quote:
Serie A Week 6 - 5/10/08 (14.00 UK)
Siena - Roma
Stadio Franchi
Siena will be reasonably happy with the start they have made to the season as they prepare to host Roma at the Montepaschi Arena, but will need to be wary of a Giallorossi backlash.
The capital club have been disappointing in the early stages, even if things have started to pick up recently. They are still without a point away on their travels though and have conceded six goals in their two away fixtures so far. That is something that Luciano Spalletti’s team will be desperate to put right in this match against a team their fans will really expect them to beat. If the players needed any more motivation, Spalletti can remind them of their embarrassing 3-0 defeat at the Montepaschi in February that seriously dented their title challenge.
Roma are still dealing with something of an injury crisis, especially in defence, despite the return of Philippe Mexes. His fellow centre-back Juan is still out of contention, as are full-backs Marco Cassetti and Max Tonetto. Spalletti will also be unable to call upon playmaker David Pizarro, while Francesco Totti is again a major doubt. The latter will perhaps be the biggest concern as the Giallorossi often fail to find top gear without their talismanic skipper.
The Bianconeri are short of numbers at the back themselves though. Coach Marco Giampaolo won’t be able to call upon Brandao, Nicola Belmonte or Cosmin Moti due to their injuries, while they are joined in the treatment room by reserve goalkeeper Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos and young midfielder Gianluca Sansone. However, those injuries are nothing new and Giampaolo will be confident of his replacements’ abilities.
Despite their difficulties on the road, Siena are still undefeated on home soil following their comfortable win over Cagliari and the 0-0 draw against Sampdoria. While Roma should present a much more difficult opposition, they will take plenty of confidence from those results.
But goals have proved hard to come by for the Robur in recent weeks and strike duo Emanuele Calaio and Massimo Maccarone will need to be at their best if they are to take full advantage of their opponents’ defensive injuries.
Keep an eye on: Alberto Aquilani (Roma) – The young midfielder has started the season in fine shape and will be looking to keep up his great form to push for an international recall from Marcello Lippi.
Last season: Siena 3-0 Roma
Form guide: Siena (L W D D L) Roma (D L W L W)
Siena (probable): Curci; Rossettini, Ficagna, Portanova, Rossi; Vergassola, Codrea, Galloppa; Kharja; Calaio, Maccarone
Roma (probable): Doni; Cicinho, Mexes, Panucci, Riise; De Rossi; Taddei, Perrotta, Aquilani, Menez; Vucinic
Ref: To follow…

well it some how feels like a dja vu, when we got a 3 pts from our league game we went on to loose 3-1, then we win again and i hope we dont get too over confident by the mid week good game as there were a lot of things nedd to be improved.
any who we have a far better healthy squad for this game then the previous ones.

lol my man!! ..for the love of god noo...i know we are in disastrous form but it will be like killing our self if we get relegated and we wont be able to do a juve if we do get relegated.
one thing tho i think this will surely send some strong message to rosella that, "hello we need players and we need them fast"

Im jsut frustrated...this really needs to wake rosella and the other big wigs up though. We are at the bottom of the fuckin table...sure its early in the season, but its looking like we wont even make uefa cup this season let alone champions league....thats whats gotten into me...we need major improvements and i think this goes to show how poorly managed the team and its funds are...not as in spalletti but as is the lupi front office and administration

im wth you here, it seems every time we make amends and carry out the major improvements it seems just to last for one game, and after that we are back to our shitty self's
