Spalletti: Everything's gone wrong Tuesday 16 September, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luciano Spalletti feels Roma's crisis is down to “both physical and psychological” factors.
“We did some things well and others badly, just as we did in Palermo, and lost the game. In the second half we were disorganised and Cluj were lucky on that second goal,” he said after the 2-1 home defeat.
“The team got tense and it was difficult to express our quality at that stage. The problem is both physical and psychological. When the results don't come, you lose that relaxed approach and can't make the most of chances.”
Romanian side Cluj made their all-time Champions League debut and earned a shock victory at the Olimpico despite Christian Panucci giving Roma the lead.
“I tried to re-organise the team and make them pacier with the players I picked and, aside from about five minutes where we struggled and conceded the equaliser, I think we did well in the first half.
“The problem was that we got caught up in the desire to turn it around and lost our sharpness. I admit I expected better from the second half, as we have the players with the quality and character to give more.”
The Giallorossi were without Philippe Mexes, Juan and David Pizarro, losing Panucci after the break for an entirely makeshift central defence.
There were many errors at the back, but the side was also disappointing in attack and has now picked up one point from two Serie A games and this 2-1 European loss.
“I was pleased to see that the players were distraught at what they had done at the final whistle,” said Spalletti.
“They realise they have to completely change their approach and performances, as it is at this stage they can begin to turn things around.
“In the past, despite losing occasionally, the team always created chances and pushed forward. Recently that hasn't been happening as much.”
His final substitution was Vincenzo Montella despite Jeremy Menez warming up for much of the second half.
“Cluj were pinned back into their own half and so it was pointless trying to run down the flanks and take advantage of space, as there wasn't any.
“It was better to get someone in there who could put it in the net and go through the middle.”
Chelsea's 4-0 triumph over Bordeaux leaves Roma struggling badly in Group A.
“We knew Chelsea were the strongest side in our group. It's not as if we were hoping they'd trip up! The fact remains we need to do better and work hard, making sacrifices to fight our way back into the group.”

the boss needs to set atmosphere in our camp ahead of our coming league game.mentally and physically we need to be fresh and forget about our past disappointments.
spalletti has brought us out of the wilderness before and i belive he still has iit in him and im totally behind the man.the players need to react the right way and learn after 3 freaking games.

No, not out yet. The competition just began. Roma play each team twice (home, away) so Roma still have another 5 more CL games left. The next match against Bordeaux is a MUST win game...and Roma better hope Chelsea beat CFR just too keep Roma on par with CFR.

System and formation change please. We cant play a 4-2-3-1 without Totti being there or Perrotta it seems.
a conventional 4-4-2 should suffice.Pizarro is out...thank god ....for a while.
-------------Doni----------
Cici---Mexes---Juan---Tonetto
Taddie--DDR---Alberto---Menez/Vucinic
------Baptista-----Vucinic/Okaka.
Simple as fucking that.No need for this fancy tactical output bullshit.Just field the players and let them play in their natural positions.

I would love to see a 4-4-2...which really is a 4-1-4-1 with DDR sitting back. But, asking the players to change over night is a difficult task, especially after playing this way for years.

If I'm completely honest I don't think it is that big a loss. I mean sure it might be embarassing for a week and a bit that you lost to Cluj but don't forget that Chelsea last season lost to Rosenborg but we still qualified. The main point is that you focus on qualifying losing one match doesn't automatically mean you are out. I have faith that Roma will qualify.

True but you cant compare Chelsea with Roma .Roma were missing Juan and Mexes.Along with a half fit Totti and Taddie.Perrotta, seems like we need him to win apparently..,and Doni whose suffering from injuries but still playing because Artur sucks massively.
Chelsea's bench players would make our first squad any day of the week and they are unequivacly better then most benches such as ours.

We finally sent Curci away lol....no need to have him back to sit on the bench lol
Roma are perusing Fontana as a backup...They can still make a move as Fontana is not under contract. Artur is shiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Can you imagine him playing in a CL match!!! 7-1???

Spalletti finds Giallorossi 'cure' Saturday 20 September, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luciano Spalletti thinks Roma's victory has helped “cure” their ills, but he and Christian Panucci turned on the media criticism.
“I don't know if the darkness has passed, but in football you need to show a bit of consistency through a series of results,” said the Coach after a 3-0 thrashing of Reggina.
“We are happy to have done our duty tonight and dealing with a delicate moment the right way. It's tough, as when the team cannot create much, then they can get tempted to pour forward to help the attack and get unbalanced.
“That is particularly risky against an organised side like Reggina. Over the course of the 90 minutes we managed to rediscover our intensity and focus.”
The Giallorossi had picked up just one point from their last three games against Napoli, Palermo and Cluj.
“When you know you have quality at your disposal, you have to ensure the lads are aware of that, regardless of the recent results.
“For example, Matteo Brighi may not get the headlines or be considered a star, but he is always ready when called upon and can deal with any situation that comes. I think he was the Man of the Match.
“We must continue like this and positive performances and results are the right way to 'cure' ourselves.”
Roma have imposed a Press silence, so only the tactician is allowed to speak to the media despite the improvement in results.
“I did not order the Press silence, I can only follow the orders that come down from the club. It makes little difference to me, as I am exempt and so have to talk even more!” grinned Spalletti.
“Clearly when a team doesn't get results, there is a tendency to twist words - on purpose or not - to create different meanings and problems.
“I didn't feel under attack. I know my work and what I have to confront. In sport so much can depend on minor factors and incidents.”
Christian Panucci did leave a statement straight after the final whistle - before the club announced its decision.
“We know there is a lot of pressure in Rome, but the idea in a couple of weeks that we had thrown away all the work done in the past three seasons was very irritating,” said the defender.
Reggina boss Nevio Orlandi was not too disappointed with the way his side played in the 3-0 defeat, their first loss of the campaign.
“We hadn't really been under pressure until Roma's second goal, then clearly the difference in quality emerged, but overall we put in a decent performance,” said the Coach.
“We realise that our only objective must be to avoid relegation and this squad proved it could react to difficult situations last season. I am confident we can do so again.”

press silence?im loving that idea .lippi is a good example when it comes to handling wth the press.spalletti is the best man to be describing and giving info about our team currently.

Spalletti: We miss Totti Tuesday 23 September, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roma tactician Luciano Spalletti has admitted his frustration at captain Francesco Totti's lingering injury problems.
The inspirational Giallorossi leader came on as a substitute against Reggina last Saturday, but he has been ruled out of tomorrow's trip to Genoa.
Although the Lupi did register a win against the Calabrian minnows, they haven't impressed this term with a draw against Napoli and defeats at the hands of Palermo and CFR Cluj.
“It's clear that we are missing Totti,” Spalletti admitted. “In the past we have relied on his quality and his numbers do the talking for him.
“But his right knee continues to cause him pain and he needs to learn to live with it.
“However, when it's really bad, like it was this morning, he can't just ignore it. These problems seem to be normal after the kind of operation he had.
“He didn't rush back too quickly because everything was decided along with the medical team.
“Francesco is so motivated and he would have wanted to play earlier if possible because he wants to make his contribution.”
In spite of recent rumours, Spalletti denied that there's any rift with the medical team.
“I get on really well with doctor Mario Brozzi,” he said. “Once in the last four years we have had a run-in, but I can't even remember when.
“We have meeting where we speak and make decisions together.”
It may not have been a perfect start to the season, but Spalletti ended on a confident note ahead of tomorrow's game against Genoa.
“This team is strong like last year's,” he said. “We can challenge for the title along with Inter, Juventus and whoever else.
“We started doing things right against Reggina and I saw a lot of positives to take forward with us.
“Now we will be taking on a good team with a top Coach in Gian Piero Gasperini - it will be a tough game.”
|
yeah we miss him, but we do have the players whom can carry us trough the tough times.and spalletti is the best man to find that right chemistry.let il capitano ease back in the squad in his due time.

Spalletti livid at 'amateur' linesman Wednesday 24 September, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luciano Spalletti demanded answers from the “amateurish” linesman after Roma’s mysteriously disallowed goal in Genoa.
“We are not looking for excuses,” he said after the 3-1 defeat at Marassi this evening.
“However, there are some incredible mistakes going on here. They have to explain it to me, otherwise it is tough for me to understand.”
Christian Panucci had put the ball in the back of the net for what would’ve been 2-2, but it was ruled out by linesman Biasutto raising his flag.
Replays show the defender was clearly kept onside by Matteo Ferrari and there was no contact, so the decision remains a mystery.
“This is a very serious and just unbelievable error,” continued a furious Spalletti.
“Even someone who goes to act as an assistant referee at amateur level wouldn’t make such a simple mistake.
“I don’t know what to say in order to explain why he might not be at fault here, because even if the ball did touch Simone Loria on the way through, Panucci was still onside.”
That incident infuriated Roma and contributed to the tension that got Daniele De Rossi sent off for a second bookable offence.
Genoa eventually rounded out the 3-1 scoreline with Diego Milito late on, but this defeat plunges the Giallorossi right back into a crisis situation.
They have just four points from their opening four Serie A games and are hovering one point above the relegation zone.
“We lost because of certain details and the collection of situations that created problems for us. The team reacted well and deserved more from this game.
“After De Rossi’s dismissal we even had the chance to equalise against a great Genoa who play excellent football.”
|
i cant say no more then what has the boss said.but some how we need to clean up our game, our refs, our fans and a lot of things.

Spalletti: Roma remain united Saturday 27 September, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luciano Spalletti assures he is “in absolute agreement” with the administration and Roma will get back on their feet.
He had seemed one of the most stable Coaches in Serie A before the season kicked off with four points from as many games plus a Champions League home defeat to Cluj.
There were reports this week that crisis talks saw Spalletti argue with director of sport Daniele Pradé over their transfer policy.
“That is not true. I did not meet with the directors on Monday, as I had a personal matter to attend to that meant I didn’t return to Rome until late in the evening.
“This is not the first time things I haven’t done have been attributed to me. It has all been invented by the media. I like the players we bought and they are good for our plans.”
Injuries have caused a lot of problems so far and the new faces are yet to impress, but even the old guard have disappointed.
“We must no longer fall into the same traps we did after the goal was disallowed against Genoa. If we let individual incidents trip us up, then it’s a sign we still need the mental strength to overcome something that did not depend on us.”
Christian Panucci’s disallowed goal infuriated the Giallorossi and soon after Daniele De Rossi was sent off, ruling him out of Sunday’s match with Atalanta.
“Roma are in good shape. We are working to get out of this situation and when everything isn’t going right, it becomes difficult to get results,” continued Spalletti.
“We are trying to recreate that spirit that allows us to play at our level. I want to overturn this situation along with the players.
“We must have a healthy fear of all opponents, but at the same time find the certainty of our own qualities to step out there with the belief we can beat anyone.”
Along with the suspended De Rossi, Roma are without the injured Julio Baptista, David Pizarro, Juan, Marco Cassetti and most likely Francesco Totti too.

for our sake i ope this is just another ploy from the papers.
coz frankly i dont see any one available that can be as good as spalletti sitting in our hot sea | | | |
