Default Roma's New Stadium Plans

Quote:
Roma's New Stadium Plans
Roma are planning to build a new stadium in memory of Franco Sensi, and as such want to move away from the Stadio Olimpico, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.

Reportedly, the new venue will be named after the late Franco Sensi, who passed away last month following a long battle with illness.

Early reports suggest that it will be a state-of-the-art 50,000 all-seater stadium. The Mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, has promised that the plans for the Giallorossi’s new stadium will go ahead.

The club are now looking to purchase suitable land on which to build the new facility in the Caltagirone area of the Eternal city. Roma have shared the Stadio Olimpico with bitter rivals Lazio over the years and fans will be delighted to hear about the new proposals for their very own stadium.

The Olimpico has hardly been renovated since its last major overhaul for World Cup Italia '90. The stadium is infamous for its lack of security, poor facilities and poor views from the stands and Curvas.

It seems as if the trend between the top four clubs is shifting. Juventus have been the first of the big boys to start moving and shaking for a new stadium.

The Bianconeri are moving forward well with their plans to develop the old Stadio Delle Alpi. Roma are likely to follow suit with their new Stadium plans. A new, modern facility with excellent amenities is just what the club needs as they move onwards and upwards.

50,000 is quite a step down from 80,000
I guess it's to be more crowd friendly.

These are recent average attendances from Roma fans:

2000/01: 63,370
2001/02: 59,402
2002/03: 57,160
2003/04: 46,458
2004/05: 49,631
2005/06: 39,726
2006/07: 38,689

I think it is a bad idea, but good in a way. It is in memory of their president, which I think would be a great idea, but this stadium seems to have so much good memories.

I dont see why its a bad idea, other then the fact that its smaller...hopefully they can get rid of the track and get the fans closer to the action...

one note tho that 50k isnt final.modern stadiums are built wth the capacity for future extensions.

but rather then a move i would like for us to buy the std o right from the city council(like thats possible ) then we can have good home.

moving also is good option since wth the new stadium comes new revenue.and would be nice to see a ground wth out the damn running tracks

That's the main reason for wanting to build a new stadium that's entirely owned to AS ROMA. This project was under way well before Franco passed away...this will likely take at least 5 years to complete...if not longer. Trying to find land that doesn't have any historical background in Rome will be tricky.

Also, how can Rosella get a loan to build a new stadium when her companies are 300m in the hole...she would have to have other investors contributing.

yep that will be tough but if lets say every thing is fully bcaked, it wont take 5 years to build it.wth todays advancement and technology the new stadium can be built done and dusted in 1 1/2 years.if im not mistaken the emirates was built complete quite fast.

we will not be just building a stadium but included in it will be our store, museum, restaurant and many wch will increase our profit besides just the gates collection.

A stadium like this would have to cost around 500m, no? Where the hell are they going to find this money when they can't afford to pay Aquilani 2m a year.

^^ exactly?? Id rather keep them in the satio o and buy some huge fuckin players...then when we win a scudetto...more fans will want to go to game, we can charge more per ticket and the proceeds can go towards a new stadium haha

But we wont own the stadium the city will.Thats the main problem imo.How can the city of rome own the stadium of a team?I dont understand that part.

In the end though Rosella is saving money .Its a good idea. The fans arent coming in.Although if the fans do come closer to the pitch then im afraid of crowd trouble since our fans love to throw stuff on the track....
