Roma Calciomercato Thread
Roma defender Walter Samuel has stated he wants a move away from Serie A and dreams of playing in England.
The Argentine international is keen for another opportunity in Europe - with Premiership giants Chelsea being his favoured destination.
Samuel has been an instrumental part of the Giallorossi since moving to The Eternal City from Boca Juniors in the summer of 2000.
The 26-year-old signed a deal with the Stadio Olimpico outfit until 2008 back in October but the South American seems ready to move on from Italian football for a new challenge elsewhere in Europe.
"I have given my best until now in Italian football and now I want another opportunity," said Samuel. "I am tired of not winning.
"My dream is to play in England and going to London to play for Chelsea, it's a very prestigious club.
"I have been in Roma for three years and I have already won a championship, now it's time for a change."

Oh my god..
Like Makelele, always thinking on money and not the club. He smirk with Roman because Chelsea can cash him a lot of £.

Ronaldo, Raul, Beckham, Salgado and Carlos gave Roman a NO.
They wanted to play for Real Madrid, and if I dont remember wrong, Salgado cash in 25 millioner KR in Real Madrid and Chelsea offer him 65 millioner KR.
I want to play for my favourite team, Salgado told the newspaper. And Real Madrid is not a club who payed GREAT wages, because they ain't not a shit club who have to pay a lot to get a player.

Capello staying with Roma
Roma have confirmed that Fabio Capello will remain with the club next season – even without star midfielder Emerson.
The tactician has been hotly linked with the Chelsea job but the Giallorossi insist that the tactician will stay in Rome.
"Capello will still be the Coach next season," sporting director Franco Baldini told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper.
"He is well aware of our plans for the future and he has given his consent to stay even without certain players at his disposal."
The club’s difficult financial situation will probably see some high profile departures in the summer but Baldini insists Roma will still be a force.
"We will remain a competitive team," he added. "We may decide to bring in some important youngsters who could take over from more famous players."
One big name heading for the exit is Emerson. His contract expires in 2005 and he doesn’t look set to sign a new deal.
Reports in Italy suggest that Juventus are really interested but Baldini has shut the door on a Turin switch.
"Everyone is well aware of Emerson’s situation but we have held talks with nobody about his sale," added the official.
"I think it would be very difficult to see us negotiate with Juventus though as they are a direct title rival of ours."
Speculation also suggests that Jonathan Zebina, who will be a free agent in the summer, is set to join Milan. "I don’t think that will happen," insisted Baldini.
He also seemed to confirm that John Carew would not remain once his season long loan from Valencia expires.
The sporting director concluded by commenting on the future of star man Francesco Totti.
"We have never received an offer for Totti," he said. "That’s because everyone already knows what our answer would be…"

Key developments regarding Roma personel...
Roma boss Fabio Capello has already waved goodbye to his influential midfielder Emerson.
The Brazilian is set to leave the Italian capital at the end of this season and Capello has confirmed that he will be sold.
Also said that,
"Totti is not for sale," he told Radio Marca. "It would be like Real Madrid selling Raul. The only departure will be that of Emerson."
Good news for all Roma fans, I expected Emerson to leave, but its great to hear that Totti staying put.

The question now is where will he go?
Inter, Real and Chelsea are the most likely destinations but I think there are more teams interested ...

I agree, I don't think INTER will make a move, and I think Chelsea is the likely destination. Assuming Nedved plays one more year, could he play along side him?????

Roma Calciomercato Thread
Newspapers in Italy maintain Roma’s reconstruction will start from Alberto Gilardino and Philippe Mexes as Juve turn to La Coruna.
The fact the Giallorossi were targeting Gilardino was already reported last week, but his agent had claimed no contact had been made.
It’s now suggested in the press that Roma have made their approach and that the Parma hitman is happy with the terms on offer.
This gives the two clubs the go-ahead to start discussing the move, which will be worth in the region of £13m.
Little expensive, but the price you get, for the second leading scorer in Italy.
So if it happens, Totti right behind Cassano and Gilardino?
