Panucci "refused to play"
thanks christian, thats the sorta spirit we really need!
Fabio Capello has confirmed that Christian Panucci will be fined after refusing to take to the field today.
“Panucci did not want to step on to the field,” confessed the Coach after today’s 0-0 draw at Reggina.
The conversation was caught on camera, as in the final minutes Capello asked benchwarmer Panucci to stand up, only to be answered with a shake of the head.
“There was no row or argument,” insisted the tactician. “He will receive a fine. It’s as simple as that.”
It wasn’t the only curious incident during that game at the Stadio Garilli, as Antonio Cassano was also seen by television cameras to be swearing at his Coach.
“I tried to calm him down while he was arguing with the referee’s assistant,” explained the Roma boss.
Is it humanly possible to calm Cassano down?

he's had an £80,000 fine from the club. Though as he hasn't been paid can he be expected to pay!
seriously though what panucci did was unproffesional and selfish, not really what you'd expect from a player who's been around as many places as Panucci.

I've read somewhere that it's because Capello didn't let him start the game

that is probably why. But refusuing to play is ridiculous, it's the sorta thing you'd expect cassano to do.

shame we don't have strength in depth, as zebina is suspended for the derby it means panucci will play.

I don't think so, he doesn't deserve to play any more. No excuses...
